I would dearly love to be able to bring a group of UK steampunks over to Canada to support your event. That particular weekend may be problematic since it is a public holiday here. Ideally we would want to tie in with a gathering in the US too within a couple of weeks of then thus making an extended trip effective. Do we have dates for the SPWF or SPWE for next year?

We would LOVE for you to come to our event. It is somewhat of a holiday here as well as some folks do celebrate May Day here. I can promise you it will be an event to remember and we will make it extra special for you We could also see about getting you all to Ottawa afterward for a visit, then it's a straight drive down to SPWF if that is where you decide to go next. SPWF, I believe, is going to be at about the same time as this year, so two weeks after ours (or mid May) I have left a message for Jeff and will let you know as soon as I have information. We're very close to having a hotel and will put out more details as soon as possible.

If you weren't convinced before that Canadian band Rush was going steampunk - here is a lovely piece of proof (be sure to watch the screen behind them)

Excellent. Now can you persuade them to play your event next year?

That would be lovely, but I have a feeling that they are way beyond our budget

First bit of news - there is a new podcast at DieCast which includes an interview with yours truly about Steampunk Canada. http://dicecast.blogspot.com/2010/11/dicecast-episode-11-fan-expo-2010-and.htmland the big news is... A big thank you to everyone who entered the contest idea contest to win a copy of Scott Westerfeld's book Behemoth. Steampunk Canada members are a creative and imaginative group. We received some amazing ideas. The judges had a difficult time picking a winner, but after much deliberation... our winner is..... ALLISON SCULTHORP for her idea of a steampunk-themed poetry (or limerick or haiku) contest. Congratulations Allison! (Thank you to Simon & Schuster Canada for providing our prize - a copy of Behemoth by Scott Westerfeld)
