I made a steampunk clock screensaver for myself and decided to share it with you. Here's a screenshot: You can download the free installer for XP and Vista from my webpage http://www.bionicmechanic.com/All comments and improvement suggestions for version 2 are welcome. Best Regards, Bionicmechanic

Thanks for this kind offering, the only slight problem I had with it was the arrangement of the hours minutes and second, perhaps rearranging them in a more conventional hours, minutes, seconds would allow easier reading, but other than that excellent

This looks great, but is there a debian version?

Thanks for the comment. If the order you suggested gets support from the other users I will change it to the next version. This looks great, but is there a debian version?
Unfortunately at the moment there is just a Windows version. Best Regards, Bionicmechanic

Looks great, I am dowloading it as I type this.
But I do second the reordering of the dials to make it a tad more conventional to read.

Did you ever play a PC game from the Mid 90s called " Thief the dark project" or it's sequel "Thief II the Metal age" ? Both were very steam punk ( a decade before I'd ever heard the term ) and had an options screen I've long wished was a screen saver, it was ubiquitous riveted metal plates and such, with some dials ( showing the loading of the game ). But had a couple of steam powered cylinders pumping in the back ground, possibly around on either side; too many years since I played it. Anyway if you can find it, and took a look at that I think you'd love it too and probably work out as a screen saver really sweet.
Thank you for your Screen saver by the way I've just installed it.

wow, thats fantasitc, i just wish i had t'internet access at home so i could download it, although it would be hard to decide whether to use this to replace my matrix code screen saver (i'm such a geek, but it looks fucking sweet, especially as i have multiple screens) I know, i'll just get a second PC and use them both, eventually. also, Screw convention, i have no problems with the seconds, hours, minuteas set up

I like it but I don't think there is enough movement for it to be a screensaver. Nice image and clock though. Just my 2 cents

although I don't usually have a screensaver up because I watch movies and close my laptop lid when leaving it, I will make an exception for this because I really want it ;]
the timer for my new screensaver is set to 125 minutes. If I forget to lower my laptop lid when going somewhere...
I second NoMoRe's comment: maybe a valve that drips or periodically hisses; Maybe a dial could crack randomly; A shadow might skulk by; Another dial might randomly shudder, fall, and reset; a pipe in the back could sometimes rumble with pressure.

Something I've been wondering about but haven't really looked into, is that at first glance it seems like the animated wallpaper ability introduced in Windows vista is missing in windows 7? But what I am getting at, is that it'd be pretty sweet to be able to use that screensaver as a wallpaper for the computer. I've not used a screensaver in years, my monitor just turns off if I don't turn it off after 5 mins of inactivity, on the grounds of modern monitors not really needing screensavers, and the best screensaver being no screen whatsoever. However I now use a dual screen set-up, and so it'd be quite a nice thing to have on the secondary screen

Thanks for comments again. Version 1.2 is out now. Now it has a bit more movement as there is steam coming out of the pipes once in a while. Did you ever play a PC game from the Mid 90s called " Thief the dark project" or it's sequel "Thief II the Metal age" ? I played it a few times but I don't remember what the options screen looked like. If I find it somewhere I will check it. Best Regards, Bionicmechanic http://www.bionicmechanic.com/

Just Downloaded it, It look great. Much better than my old screensaver. Love the random (Looking) puffs of steam. Not the easiest clock in the world to read, but I guess thats half the fun.

So am I the only one that thinks it would be cool to use that as a proper animated desktop wallpaper, and not just as a screensaver?
