You are at Ft. Polk?

Just south of there in Deridder.

Hopefully I'll have an outfit by the Con, if so I will be in costume.

Hooray!  I've convinced a friend to attend BabelCon with me.  She dresses a bit more Lolita than steampunk but she'll be attending the meetup with me.

I'd also like to get a group of Brass Goggles people to meet up at MobiCon in May as well.

What day and time would you like to meet up?  I'll be driving in Friday afternoon, and staying for all three days, so just about anytime would be fine for me.

I'd prefer Saturday mid-day or afternoon.  I won't be in until late Friday evening.

Ok this one is new to me as well. There are way too many cons and festivals to attend. I need to win the lottery.

Must dig out plans for my probability manipulation device.

Just about two weeks until BabelCon - does everyone have their finest outfits ready?  I've been working on mine for a few weeks now.  Smiley

I've started a new thread about the BabelCon meetup in hopes that others will join us.  The thread is here

What time would be best for everyone to gather?

I heard some very good things about CoastCon from my friends who went.  Glad to see it doing well, and I'm glad you had a good time, Sir Robert!

So...who's definitely in for the BabelCon meetup?  I have a couple of NOLA friends who will be attending (and dressed to the nines) with me.  Smiley  What time shall we be meeting, and where?  I was thinking in the main lobby.

Well count me in for sure. Saturday at BabelCon, where exactly and when exactly?

If Brass Goggles is any indicator of good costuming my dressed to the nines will be closer to a four but I will endeavor to come up to that excellent high standard.

I created another thread about the meetup here.  No definite place or time has been set.  I was thinking of just making it simple - everyone meet in the lobby around 1pm on Saturday.  I don't know the con hotel layout so I can't think of another place to meet.   Undecided

I'm sure whatever you have will be just fine!  My ensemble will be kind of low-key.  I'm saving the REALLY good stuff for MobiCon in May.  Wink

BabelCon is less than a week away!  Is everyone excited yet, or is it just me?

1pm, the hotel lobby.  Look for the woman with the octopus chatelaine and small hat.  Hope to see you there!

My pictures from BabelCon are here.

The con was fun, it was a great day, and I'm very glad to have met both dabreegster, Sir Robert, and his lovely lady friend!  (dabreegster, I wish you could have attended lunch with us, it was a grand time!)

So what's the next convention coming up?  I know of MobiCon - that's the one in Mobile, May 14-16.  I usually attend every year, and it's a really good convention.  There's also MechaCon in New Orleans, July 16-18.  Might want to pull out your lightweight outfits for that one, since it's in the dead of summer!

Any other get-togethers going on?

Sir Robert and Mary Elise were very happy to have had lunch with you three ladies as well, we must do it again!  This was May Elise's first ever introduction to Steampunks and you were wonderful as Representatives of the species. I did not get to talk about your outfit Sevenlies but the waist pouches were very well done indeed.

As for Debreegster, we were saying between ourselves today that he did miss out on much fun over lunch.

Some new fun in NOLA come September:  The Grand Masquerade

Quote
In celebration of almost two decades of gaming after dark, White Wolf would like to invite The Camarilla Fan Club, One World By Night , The Elder Kindred Network, and all World of Darkness fans past and present to participate in The Grand Masquerade: A Gala World of Darkness Convention September 23-26, 2010 at the luxurious Roosevelt Hotel located in downtown New Orleans. A one-of-a-kind not to be missed event, set at the most glamorous, stylistic and historically significant venue in one of the most iconic vampire cities in the world. The Grand Masquerade is where we celebrate the past, and glimpse the future of the World of Darkness.

I don't know if anyone else is an old-school fan of White Wolf games.  I used to play in many Vampire: The Masquerade LARPs back in the mid-to-late 90s, and I hold a soft spot in my heart for the game.  Would anyone be interested in going?  (It's a great place to play dress-up, I'm sure!)
