Things have moved in various exciting directions.

We have a major touring art exhibition planned now for next year with a target audience of a quarter of a million visitors!

We have been filming all year and hope to shortly have an online steampunk channel with regular short films.

Both features will tie in to a magazine but all has to be set to work as an integrated whole.

A massive undertaking but without vision where is a steampunk utopia?

We hope it will all be worth waiting for. Grin

(And to think this all began with a thread a couple of years ago saying we needed a convention in the UK!)

Howdy,

I'd like a subscription and to write articles for it.

I studied graphic design in college many years ago.  Then I contributed fiction to the "Cthulhu Coffee" website.  More recently, I wrote a series of local interest articles for a regional newspaper (Rochester Post-Bulletin in Minnesota).

Cheers,

For what it's worth, I had a bit of journalism studies in my University days (I am a dropout, though).  I'm also very involved with the local music scene (in North Carolina) and hope to become more so in the coming months (my band's looking a getting signed-no easy task!).

I'm also a fair hand a photography (even moreso since I no longer have access to my SLR!), for what that's worth.

If you need someone to write on sociopolitical subjects, I'm your man.  It's been a lifelong dream to write for a publication-granted my views tend to, ah, be a bit, "extreme," as it were!

I'm also fond of philosophy and "unusual questions, (i.e. How real are we/Are video game characters real to some weird degree/what if I, Robot's concept of "Ghost code" was correct/etc.), as well as theological matter (if I dont know the answer, I can get it within 72 hours).

If you dont need anyone, how to I put in for subscriptions? Cheesy

I, too, will be watching this thread for news on getting the much-sought-after subscription.  This sounds amazing! As a potential reader, I would love to see reviews on the lastest books, music, events, etc, AS WELL AS possibly some articles about/from the ACTUAL time period?  It would be great if someone could dig up articles from Victorian-era newspapers or pamphlets or what-have-you and re-publish them periodically.  Of course, that may be an unbelievably huge headache in the aquiring of publishing rights, etc.

I didn't read the entire thread, so this may be redundant--forgive me--but once you get well-established (and the workload isn't so huge) featuring some sort of contest for short stories/installment stories for up-and-coming steampunk authors would be great!  (I know several people who I would be encouraging to enter *ahem*Xenos?*ahem*)

I look forward to holding the magazine in my hands!

London June-Aug  (Kew Steam Museum)
Midlands Sept-Nov (Papplewick Steam Museum and Lincoln Galleries) - ties in with The Asylum
Glasgow Dec-Feb (Glasgow Museum of Science)

We are looking to move the exhibition on to Europe and/and or the US in 2012. Art and I are working on securing further venues for the tour to move on when it completes in 2012.

A huge project.  Target UK audience is 150,000 visitors.   There are a series of events planned alongside too - music weekends, makers weekends, catwalk fashion shows etc.

I have the ability to write poetry, short stories (500-2000 words), and random philosophical rants if you ever require some 'filler' material. just PM me if you are interested at any point in the future.

Coming late to this party but happy to be involved - another former journalist and pedantic proofreader, plus a right old blabberfingers who's happy to dash off the odd article or two (and yes, the odder the better...)

Anything in particular you're looking for?  I'm more than happy to write on...  well, pretty much anything!

Essay, current events, poetry, short stories, movie reviews, game reviews...  Let me know what you need, and I'll see what I can't get together!

We are looking for articles of interest to steampunks.

"How tos"
Event Reports
Book, album and film reviews
Builds and makes
Features on individual makers/writers etc
Features on groups and societies.

We are not sure if we will be including fiction or not. We are accepting submissions but only speculatively if you get my drift.

Steampunk is a creative world though so we are sure there will be other great ideas floating around there.

Submissions can for the time being be sent to majortinker@aol.com

Written text should be sent in "word" format for ease. Please include photographs and illustrations.  Visuals should be at 300dpi preferably.

I hope that is helpful.

As long as something isn't time sensitive (such as a review or event report) then pieces can be submitted as and when.  We have a number of major events coming up though and would like to be able to publish for September so submissions by June 8th would be very welcome for the first issue.

Do you mean the 2008 movie with Ron Perlman?  (That would not be very current and as I said reviews are the time sensitive sort of submission.)  Or is there a movie of the same name I am not familiar with?

That would be the one.

But not many have heard of it it seems and my one gripe with most magazines is they only ever review NEW movies and never old gems one might have missed.

Traditionally reviews are of current releases so that people have an idea of what they want to spend their cash on seeing (whether on the big screen or buying a disc).

An article on an older movie should have more of a "something you may have missed" type slant rather than being a straight review.  Hope that is helpful.
