Firstly, not sure if this should be in Tactile board...if so then I apologise!

Bon! So, I am an obsessive collector of lingerie but unfortunately a lot of the stuff I've bought in the past was before I had 'reached my full potential' so to speak, so I started sorting some stuff to throw out/give away and came across this beauty (which I recall had lots of fun with with me whilst in Rome..!   Grin Cool):

I thought it had 'Steampunk potential' but what do you think?! I'd be totally ok wearing it just as a regular top and could build an outfit around it. But I'd need to replace the inner bra part, so could anyone give me advice about how to do this? Should I take the wire out or fix the wire of the new bra outside it??! >I guess not?< http://www.flickr.com/photos/40456430@N06/4248693181/#in/photostream/

I am not a 'maker' so this will be new to me! *humbles herself before the superior ones*. The outer fabric is chiffon so I'm just a bit wary of being too brutal....any advice/comments appreciated!  Grin

    Dear TribalWren,

You're correct in assuming that chiffon isn't a very forgiving material.  It's fragile and tends to fray like mad.

Am I correct in understanding that this top needs to be enlarged a bit?

Yes, but just the cup size...the fit is fine otherwise. I hoped it would be possible to just 'insert' another shop bought bra of matching colour, having removed the strap and back fiirst...but perhaps this is not a well thought-out proposal?! I really have no idea when it comes to sewing!!  Undecided Grin

    Dear TribalWren,

Do you have any "sewing savvy" friends who could help you with this?

Sadly no!! I am all alone in terms of "attempted sewing savvy"!  Smiley Do you think that perhaps it's too complicated to deal with?!  Undecided

depending on how strongly you feel about the project you could enlist the help of a professional alterations person.
