I do look forward to meeting everyone there. We will definitely have to plan a meetup time and place. I thought I had seen a programming schedule but cannot find it now....ugh
I just checked and I couldn't find a schedule either. I can't wait to meet you and everyone else. We'll be checking in sometime that Friday. ~ Larry

I'm not sure yet what time we will be getting there on Friday. If I can take a half day from work then we will be there before 5:00. Otherwise it will be sometime in the evening. Hopefully there will be some tiype of message board where we can post messages and such.

I am in the Mid-Cities area of the DFW Metroplex. I would be delighted to meet with fellow purveyors and aficionados of Steam and Electricity! In a similar vein, I am always looking for material to cover for the news, projects, and reviews section of my Steampunk Blog, if any of you have anything you would like to get some press on.

Thanks you very much. It is still very much a humble enterprise, but I sincerely hope for it to grow. I wonder if this summer we might have a DFW Steampunk Meet & Greet among the members? If I may be so bold as to ask our Texas members ages... or, should that prove too brusque a request, a mention of over or under 21 from those likely to attend a DFW event would help to plan a good meeting place if we all did. Though if we were in Austin, it would almost certainly have to be The Daily Grind, assuming it is still in business.

Wow, when was that airshow, sorry I missed it! Will we be seeing you at A-Kon, Max?
And speaking of purveyors of steampunkery, I have quite a bit of steampunk in stock in my etsy shop right now for anyone who is interested... http://www.etsy.com/shop/figments

I really like the idea of a DFW meetup. There's several locations. We could all meet and ride the Tarantula train http://www.tourtexas.com/content.cfm?id=118Dallas has Heritage Park http://www.oldcitypark.org/These are all age friendly. Since my wife and I are empty nesters somewhere else would be fine and age restriction isn't an issue for us. That being said I wouldn't want to leave someone out if it was.

Either of those sounds wonderful. I am definitely over 21 so other places would not be an issue. Being as how I am up in Sherman I fear Austin would be a bit too far for me to go for a meetup. I was looking to see what else there was in the area and found this The Museum of the American Railroad (also listed as The Age of Steam Railroad Museum) http://www.dallasrailwaymuseum.com/

A meet-n-greet sounds like a wonderful idea! Age-restricted venues are not a problem for me.
I've never been on the Tarantula; that sounds like a lot of fun!

I just posted the same on the Austin steampunks, but I thought I should do it here as well since we are in Texas. My wife and I are both steampunks, though she leans more to the gothic side of things. We are in San Antonio and find ourselves frequenting Austin (really it just fits us better, but the work is in SA). I wanted to say hi and meet a few people before we attend our first Austin steampunk event (the ball at Elysium). Also I wanted to tell people about my wife's shop. She makes corsets, jewelry, and accessories. Some are steampunk, some are gothic, some don't like to be classified but are flattered that you try. I also dabble in the making of chainmaille, specifically I try to combine my steampunk aesthetic with chainmaille designs. Her shop is at http://www.etsy.com/shop/moonstaradriSo, hello to all. We look forward to meeting you in the near future!

Greetings y'all! You all should come to the Green Steam Circus! Abney Park and White Ghost Shivers are performing there, along with many other properly themed bands and attractions! http://greensteamcircus.com/Ack! I'll be out of town that weekend. Blasted! Sounds like a great time, though! Perhaps for next year's event!

I was in the car Saturday and somehow wound up in Austin. then off to Kerrville. Did you know they charge to get down to the bat cave now? But back to the reason for my post. Have any of you recently been between Kerrville and Fredericksburg? There's this amazing monstrosity of a metal deer. His name was scrappy. Hard to miss him as he's perched on top of a large stone, and is a bit on the tall side himself. We stopped and took a few pictures, though I don't believe they are out of the camera yet. I kept waiting for him to get annoyed, but I guess he's used to the touristy types by now and simple kept looking across the highway to the field. Either that or I had a very interesting dream this weekend. edit: apparently I was awake this weekend.

I actually used to live in Grapevine, where the train calls its home. i enjoy the feel of Grapevine's downtown. small, homey. something I recommend for certain.

Pooh-pooh to anyone who thinks their way is the only way. Also feh! And bah for good measure!

I love that. "pooh pooh." So much nicer that what I would have said. Of course being a good ol' Texas boy I would have followed it with "Pardon my French." bah indeed, agreed...pardon my French (snicker)... which I did not realize was Texan but accept as so...

We meet every second Wednesday at Epoch Coffee on North Loop Boulevard here in Austin, with the next meetup scheduled for 19May10. It's a show-and-tell, idea exchange, discussion kind of thing that runs from about 6:00 pm until around 10:00 and costuming is optional but entertaining! It's just good to sit down with other folks of like interests and just jawbone a bit! Right now everything is frenetic preparation for the Abney Park show on the 15th. There's also a pretty good calendar of Texas events on the http://texassteampunks.ning.com website we're running, so you might want to keep track of things there. We'll hope to see you sometime! JJ

Yes, there are a few of us over there as well. Neither of these groups seems overly active here online, but it is a good way to at least touch base with folks. Still wishing there were some like-minded people up in the Texoma area!
