I am resident in Firth Park, about a 40 minute walk down to Meadowhall, which is on the border with Rotherham.

Yes Sir, Mr Tinker. The very first link on the page is for brass goggles. The second is for the Assylum.

I'm hoping to try and get as many roughly yorkshire events announced on the page as I can. It'll be a case of popping a message and linking to here to filter people to the right place.

Also Mr Harrow, I'd be more then happy to have you. Meadowhall is all of about 20 minutes from me (when the roads are a little busy) so it won't be a bother at all to collect you.

There are certainly. Other steampunks in both York (so good they only had to name it once) and Harrogate mean that it should be possible to organize meets in your neck of the woods, so you can get to see us all that way.

You may want to start saving your pennies for The Asylum in Lincoln in September, most of us Yorkshire Steampunks will be there, as well as most of the countries Steampunks.

It feels like it's never going! Is the hamlet the one on Abbeydale Rd? Don't know Sheff very well (I live in Chessie), but drive past that place to a maintenance job I do at Netherly edge (where the old hospital was, it's houses now). If so, I will actually be able to find it... Hooray.

The Industrial Hamlet at Abbeydale has very restricted hours nowadays.  It used to be open much more and even had some very succesful events in the past but funding issues started to bite in the late nineties.  It has some very interesting features but it should be noted it is specifically a water powered facility rather than steam.  Well worth a visit but don't go looking for steam engines.

Schedule willing count myself and the Memsahb in.

Such a shame when museums can't get funding, we lose so much history that way.

Especially when other Museums in the area get an expensive refit, and lose all their charm.

Personally I blame the Council - load of fat cats who don't care about the City or it's heritage at all! Grin

Sorry guys but this is a cheerful jibe at my good friend Peter who is employed by the City.

Apologies Sir but I couldn't resist.

You are absolutely right though.  I think one of the problems is Abbeydale is actually owned by English Heretics but operated by the Council and that sort of thing rarely works well.

By the by, if you're on facebook, and in the Yorkshire area (preferably, we don't exclude anyone!) then you may be interested in the page we've set up.

http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1321532912#/pages/South-Yorkshire-Steampunk/372539130133?ref=ts

This is simply to get an idea of how many steampunks we have in the area. Any announcements for events and things will still be posted here Smiley

My husband ails from East Riding of Yorkshire, Beverly way and we tend to come down quite a bit.  So that could be interesting.
