This jar was recently discovered in an abandoned laboratory, it appears to house some sort of strange organism. It is of a foetal nature and still has, what looks to be, it’s umbilical cord attached. It sits in a green liquid, obviously some sort of presevring agent. The top of the jar is sealed with wax and the whole thing is covered in dirt and dust, it looks to be very old. The label is worn but one can still make out most of the writing, it reads: Specimen 127-A Origin: Removed from human host Species: Unknown Location: Yu-tang province, China Description: <something> foetus, Cephalopod, parastic in nature, highly toxic Very odd indeed. I’ll store it for now in until I have time to examine properly later. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- A big thank you to all who have posted their things in jars on this site and to the tutorial over on http://propnomicon.blogspot.com/search/label/Things%20In%20A%20Bottlefor giving me the inspiration to make it

My wife loves 'things in jars'. The Huntarian Museum was full of things she wants to 'adopt'. In fact, a friend of ours is an assistant to a pathologist and offered us a brain. But I got a bit squeemish.

My wife's into them, too (hence the 30 or so unfinished things in unlabeled jars).
Nice work, dude.

Nice 'thing in a jar' you have there! The wax seal looks a little too white though, should be a little more tan / amber in colour for an aged look. Top job though!

HOW CAN YOU TURN DOWN A BRAIN? ? I have to agree with that comment! A free BRAIN........and you turned it down?!!? Damn! I would have taken that instantly - and anything else on offer! SS

Thank you for the very kind words about the tutorial. It's a delight to be even remotely involved in such a well done project. The quality of your craftsmanship, and the impeccable presentation, is a joy to behold.

Reason #281 I enjoy this forum:
I saw a thread named "My thing in a jar," and wasn't afraid to read it.

Reason # 282: Someone mentioned "free brain in a jar" and half the populace are clambering over one another to get it.

Wow, thanks for all the kind words everyone @Siliconous Skumins - Hmm, yes I think you're right, I'll try weathering it a little more. Thanks for the observation @Rockula - Funny you should mention a brain in a jar. I've been looking at prop rubber brains, I think it would look quite effective in a jar, sealed with wax and weathered.

Nice 'thing in a jar'.....
Incidentally..when the medical history library I work at cleared out a great many of it's old pathology specimins about 15 years ago I blagged myself a human heart in formaldehyde (really cool..all the veins have been pumped full of red dye so they all show up)..a bi-sected human kidney (which my ex girlfriend claimed when we broke up) and I got a friend of mine a human brain and a deformed foetus (in seperate jars , obviously) The foetus looked like an alien!! About three years back he emigrated to Seth Ifrica and I honestly have no idea what he did with the two specimins...

I got offered a human skull a year or two ago as a result of giving an ex-colleague several of my finds whilst out fieldworking (mostly deer, rabbit, mouse and a bird of some sort). I politely turned him down as something just seemed a little off about it. I really don't know why, considering the contents of my bedroom :/

Going for fake brain in a jar you need to make a base with a uplighter and a small aquarium pump integral to it so drill into the side for an airline. Actually if you use milliput to make a brain it it would be safe for a goldfish.
