Alright, calling all G.O.B.L.I.N.S. Particularly the Pan/Poly/Omni (or Bi, even). I just finished reading Sex at Dawn, as part of my post-breakup re-examination of relationships. Have any of you read the book? And do any of you have any thoughts to add?
Following that up by reading The Ethical Slut.

Oh, you are beautiful! No really, you are, you're gorgeous! Space-age clockwork, I love it, I've got chills! Listen, I mean this from the heart - and by the way, count those - it would be a crime, it would be an act of vandalism to disassemble you.

But that won't stop me.

Absolutely excellent isn’t it? Anything Gatiss writes is guaranteed to possess a certain level of sparkly-delicious-magnificence.

Did I just kill this thread? I'm sorry. I do seem to have the touch of death when it comes to these things.

Hmmm, I'm thinking about chickening out of the local pride event. I want to go to support friends and the community but it's so much easier to just sleep in and use events in my life right now to excuse my lack of showing up.

Oh and I got some supplies to try my hand at making GOBLINS t shirts by hand. But they won't be ready in time for the pride event. Ah well. that's pretty much all I've got to say right now. I've some other things going on in my life and I'm trying to recenter myself. Maybe I'll have some good things to share in the future months.

I don't think you did, Gerry Hunter. The group tends to ebb and flow a bit here.

When is your local pride event? I didn't go to anything during pride week here because I was working hard to meet a work deadline early so that I would have time to go on a beach vacation. The deadline got extended and the vacation got cancelled due to a hurricane. Smiley I ended up being really annoyed that I didn't just go out to pride.

It was this past weekend. I didn't go. I felt guilty at the time but I think it would not have been much fun for me. I'm just not in the mood for much of anything these days. I'm still not feeling very well, and there's no real indications as to what is causing it. All my blood tests come back baseline normal and aside from some endocrine wonkiness (surprise surprise) that is less than appealing to try treatments for - which is a nice way of saying I'd rather cram ghost chilies up my nose and rub mint in my eyes than experience what that stuff did to me the last time we tried, despite the fact that it doesn't seem to do damage, it hurts so bad- yet I'm spending time in pain and tired and sick for a few days here and there.

Add to that the huge drama collapse of much of my social circle that was my first step out into being social since many many years ago. And the neighbor next door who is a friend with whom I can 'girl talk' is heading off on a cross country adventure for at least a year.

I just want to give up, retreat to my bed and never come back out. But I can't. Because of money, because I'm a grown up and there hasn't been a parent to tend to me in about a decade and a half so I have to get my own food and pay my own bills ect. And now I'm sick half the time. I'd just like to be healthy, have shelter, and food and then just be left with books, craft supplies and the net.

So I slept in, and made my apologies to the friends who helped set the event up for the community. I spent the first three hours feeling sick after waking up, and I know I would have been a downer at the march and the puppy drag show.

Sorry to hear about your health. I've been very sick before, but with the benefit of knowing what was wrong. Still, I know what it's like to want to sit around and do nothing. I hope you feel better soon.

Thank, it's just the worry of not knowing that gets me down so much about my health. It tends to throw the rest off too. I mean a year ago I had one friend I saw with any regularity. and Two and a half years ago my neighbor was unknown to me. I existed well enough then. So I could be happy and productive and for the most part content with that situation again. It's the transition that's hard, and I don't really have a good friend anymore.

I think I just need to find some of those good folks and connect (or reconnect) with them. Then focus on living my life for me. and hopefully get some answers about whats wrong with me and what I can do to deal with it. I mean even finding out it's cancer would tell me what is causing it and what if anything I can do. Not that anything potentially terminal is the desired outcome.

and on a completely different note:

Truer words, never spoken

Anywho, I find myself firmly entrenched, somewhere not entirely located in heterosexuality. o.0 Yeah, even I cant figure that one out...... Simply put, I like the ladies. But a few dapper gentlemen have caught my gaze also. I would not label myself Bi though, as in general perception, that implies equality of attraction, which is not the case for me. Personally, I think that sexuality is much more fluid than the two or three boxes we try to place everyone in.

As for my personal stance on 'alternative' lifestyles, well I was raised by two moms, I have at least two gay cousins, my best friend is married to another women (sadly illegally. Come on Australia, catch up) and I followed the actions of many others and put off marriage until this countries government decided to move into the new century. If you cant figure out my stance from that, then your cogs need tightening!

I haven't read Sex at Dawn, but my experience of The Ethical Slut was that it's basically a rationale for swinging or having a lot of guilt-free casual sex. If you're interested in open relationships of a more committed sort, try Tristan Taormino's Opening Up instead. (There's a book called 'Polyamory, the New Love Without Limits' by Deborah Anapol as well, but that one was written several decades ago and tends towards the hippy-dippy in places.)

Oh, and grab me an Earl Grey.

At least I remember that I'm steampunk!

Also... I have something to confess.

I am not fabulous. Er... what are the penalties for such an outrageous breach of G.O.B.L.I.N.S duties?

One Earl Grey, there you go! Would you like some milk or sugar or anything else with that? I`m all out of cookies though, sorry, not sure if anyone else happens to have any?

And oh psssh, penalties? Why would we have penalties when there`s no such thing as a non-fabulous member of the GOBLINS. You being here makes you fabulous.

(just get some snacks for everyone and I`m satisfied really, though I can`t really speak for the rest of them here)

Fabulous as a definition is something that like so many things is as flexible as it needs to be.

e.g. One can be a fabulous person but have no dress sense
