I'm of the opinion that were such a thing to happen, the easiest method would be skype msn or yahoo etc. however all of these require one to posses access to one of the former, so may not be entirely conclusive...

I thought I heard a tiny voice a little while back suggesting a Skype group chat. I think that'd be pretty freaking fun.

There've been various chat things set up around and abouts a quick search turns up this- http://brassgoggles.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,18071.0/topicseen.html which has various odds and ends on it... I figure it'd robably be pretty easy to set up a similar lonely gear channel?

--edit--
Also this one is still active ^^

How the fleck do I type in that thing?!

There should be a text box right at the bottom.  Type in it and press return to post.

It kept confusing me too, still it is one option, plus it's interesting just chatting to random BG people when they're sociable ^_^

So that's where we were supposed to do it.  So much for the Singles thread.

Indeed - I seem to be in a minority in having a functioning Skype but nobody to talk to with it!

I have no idea if mine works.  I can scrounge headphones because the mic doesn't work on the computer they were bought for but I don't know if they work on my netbook, only tested them on my desktop and I sound like I have a blocked nose.

Never bothered much with the audio side, I only ended up using it for text communications. Talking to your computer for ages feels really odd!

I think I used the text once when I was setting it up for my mum.

I imagine I would also feel weird talking to myself in my room.

Got MSN and Skype here. Although I'm running Pidgin which speaks pretty much every IM language.

I use MSN.  I disabled Skype after getting tired of it pinging at me.  Same with Steam although that hogs memory too.

I don't often use Skype as it seems to insist on taking over my sound card so nothing else plays. Given I tend to have Spotify or Youtube on at some point most days this is annoying.

I have MSN and Skype too, but you can't do a video conference on MSN and not everyone has Skype.
Yahoo pwns in this case.

The lack of videoconference is probably a good thing. I doubt anyone wants to see me IM-ing from my bed in PJ trousers...

I do have a webcam but it's attached to my screen so I couldn't have it pointed at my avatar sculpture. Sad  I think I got all of the glue off it.  I have a sticker over it because I don't trust it not to spy on me during naked time.

I doubt anyone wants to see me IMing in the dark from my bed in my birthday suit.

Mine too but I know them on a forum where we all hang out in a big, big thread which still clings to its roots but went pretty off topic around 9,000 pages ago.  We got moved to another part of the forum recently which is pretty good going because the other de-railed chat thread from the same board was deleted.

I frequently turn up there naked and nobody bats an eyelid.

It's actually quite hard to see anything in the dark.  I've tried it.

Try that with UKites, when you're down antipodes-way, like me, and then you can complain.

So... what the hell do I do now?  Tell her that I actually still have feelings for her, and maybe try again?  Or don't say anything, pretend it never happened and continue to definitely be miserable, as opposed to maybe being miserable but definitely putting myself outside my comfort zone?

Thor, I'll throw you a phrase that my old theatre director used to tell us all the time to get us to step out of our comfort zones in improv.

I've found that it is definitely as useful offstage as it is onstage. Smiley
