I'm new here so I thought I would present an intoduction, this seems to be the place (from what I've seen on other "new here" posts). I've been interested in Victorian era/Steampunk for awhile now. I've been slowly building my home decor to be fitting and am fascinated about the ideas of saturating other parts of my life with steampunk goodness (Like my 1971 VW Beetle). This forum has to be one of the biggest sources for steampunk info I have witnessed hence far and am glad to join.

Greetings, and welcome!  I hope you find a comfortable home here.

A true alternative subculture is one that not only questions the social status quo but poses viable solutions to some of the perceived underlying problems. Difference from the norm is not the same as superiority to the mainstream unless it can be  argued that the difference is positing a better way.
