This sounds a splendid idea, it's been some time since I had a pen-pal. I shall also throw my hat into the ring. I live in N.Ireland, I'm 28 and will talk to anyone about anything (email or traditional).

Well I'm very new to this (and very old at 46 - but sometimes that has advantages) but I think I'd like to correspond with others who might inspire and delight me with their thoughts. I'm a scientist and science writer and would love to hear from you.

So, still searching for a penpal.

I have no preference in anything like gender but someone my own age would be lovely (don't be put off if you're masses older, we can still work it out!). I am a 19 year old girl, been into Steampunk for about 2 years officially, design and make costumes and trying to get into theatre as a career.

PM to talk more!

It's been quite a while since I've a pen pal on here. Would be keen to chat with folks. Email would be fine, but I always do love receiving mail. PM me for my address.

A little about me: I'm 31, living in Milwaukee, WI. I am a writer, editor, and educator here in the city, a strong arts advocate, and leader of a local polyamory group. Very open-minded and left-of-moderate. While politics isn't a topic of choice, I feel like getting that out there makes awkward moments less prevalent :D I am a cat person, I take a walk every morning, and I love being a coffee and beer snob.

I was just given a brilliant idea by a co-worker...tea letters...if any one would be interested in this, please feel free to PM me. Write a letter, attach a packet of tea (something unique to your area would be lovely, or some sort of specialty tea, etc) which you are to enjoy whilst reading your letter. Can be in character or 'real life' - I'm good either way :)

I would LOVE a pen pal from across the pond; a lady would be lovely as I think it would be easier to converse, but I am not particular. :)

I'd like to have a pen-pal, as I often feel like I have no friends but my two dogs, but I am afraid to give my home address or e-mail address to someone I've never met in person. I will write either as myself or in persona (preferably a little of both).

I am 19 years old as of May 4th, 2011. I don't care about age or gender but I do care about someone that shares some of my interests.

•   History (my favorite period to study is the first half of the twentieth century)
•   Politics (I identify as a quasi-socialist/ social democrat with some conservative tendencies on social issues but will happily talk to anyone with any kind of political opinions)
•   Antiques (my room is so full of them that I am running out of space to keep them)
•   Animals (dogs especially)
•   Music (almost always pre-1970 and often pre-1950)
•   Humor (I draw cartoons as a hobby)
•   Religion (I identify as a Christian. I was raised Roman Catholic and, although I have a few disagreements, I agree with most of the basic ideas.)
•   Philosophy (I have no formal instruction in philosophy but I think about it a lot in my spare time)
•   Vehicles (As a small child I was obsessed with trains. Today I am very into classic cars and pre jet age aviation.)
•   Weapons and Military Equipment (Okay, I admit it. I like guns. Please don't make the assumption that this means I approve of violence, because that is not true.)

I would also like to write to someone in another country if possible, but it is not mandatory.

I too shall throw the metaphorical cap into the ring.

Male - 56  Yes that means I've been alive in SEVEN Decades.
Married - 32 years to the same exceptionally tolerant woman.
 Interests- Model making/painting
                Art - Sketching & Watercolours
Photography - Used to be pretty descent at it.
Literature - SF through Crime and on to anything else which catches my fancy.
Writing - well we all try don't we? (As long as we wash our hands afterwards its all right according to Mr Heinlien.)
Fascinated by the whole concept of Steampunk.
Like to make things, mostly a mess and lots of sawdust.
                And Food.

Would like to write in person, or even in character, send Photos, sketches (Watercolour postcards) and would be equally delighted to receive in return. I can understand French "Un Petite", however the rest of my linguistic skills remain within the failures of the English educational system.

(Oh an apologies for anyone coming back to read my post as during my lunch break in the middle of compiling this our wonderful Internet filter decided that the thread consisted of Offensive language and Pornography and cut me off mid sentence.)

I would enjoy having a pen pal. I'm not too particular about gender, age, or location. If it matters to you I am female, 25, and in the US. I would love to have someone to read and discuss literature with. I am open to almost every genre except that I do not usually enjoy modern mystery novels. Other than that I will read everything from total fluff to serious informational books or biographies. If you are from a different region than me, I would also be interested in the idea of trading care packages as long as there is a budget/weight limit. This can even be in the US as long as you are East coast ( I am West coast) so that the exchange would have things we may not be able to get in our own areas. If anyone is interested please send me a PM and I will be more than willing to go over specifics and exchange contact information.

I would love to have a pen pal and potentially someone whoc can give me recommendations and suggestions as far as some good Steampunk literature too. I've been interested in Steampunk for quite some time but only recently started looking more closely so guidance is always welcome!
I'm in the UK, 30 and currently working within the science field and finishing my part time History degree.
I'm happy to send letters to anywhere in the world, don't mind where  :)

Hmm, this seems to me to be interesting. Always wanted someone to write to... That's why I bought a massive amount of envelopes a few months back.

Right, I don't think I'm too terribly bothered about the whole A/S/L doodah... But, if one does need to know, Myself is 19, male and completely without any relationship with anyone. (so far)
What I like: (que the Fantastic Mr. Fox "he's just"-wobbly hands either side of face-"different" scene)

History- yes, anywhere from 1860 ACW to 1950...
Music- yes, from the most early forms of music to around the 1970's...
Fauna- Terrified of big dogs, alright with horses, chickens, owls, hawks, snakes, etc.
Art- love most types, except cubist. Great regard for William Morris.
HA! I make my own philosophy.
Religion- well, raised as a Christian... though I would hold a personal view that may differ slightly from "Main Stream"- more Celtic-y in balance.
Literature? All sorts really.... Mystery, SiFi, dramatic things... NON FICTION TOO!
I agree with Kapitan Fritz below, although I like guns I don't approve of violence. Logic and understanding comes first.
Loooove Food.

To be honest, writing in or out of character (or both) is fine with me... Please feel free to "PM" moi if you feel the sudden urge to write.

What a splendid idea. In the real world I'm Alli, here I'm Ady.
I would love to write to anyone, anywhere, although I do have slightly Victorian, elegant but hard to read hand writing. I'm a history student, I love reading, I adore films and costume making. I am paganesque, 20 years old, and like most people who live in the villages near me, have taken part in or observed my fair share of historical re-enactment. I also like a good pub style debate and Radio 4 comedy.

I'm Valentine, 22  years old, and like a number of fine gentlefolk here am quite new to Steampunk. My interests vary from fantasy books to, well, more fantasy books , but recently steampunk literature has been added to the library, thanks to the lovely novels by Pip Ballantine and Tee Morris. I am about to start my MSc in psychology in the lovely little town of London, I think some of you may have heard of it. I love many genres of music, from Neu Deutsche Härte to Industrial to Symphonic Metal to Neo-Folk to Steampunk (of course). Other interests are tea, RPGs, baking, languages, other languages, anime, movies, mythology and long walks on the beach, no I mean long, like, bring a tent.

I am interested in learning more about the Steampunk subculture from those immersed in it and would be happy to email or snail mail (if you'll allow the uncouth use of a noun as a verb) with anyone from anywhere, in French, German or English, as you will.
Two-faced? You give us too little credit.

I've always wanted a pen pal, but I've never tried to find one because I know for a fact that I am boring. But! I do like to exchange letters and I am fascinated by anyone from a different country, so here's my offering to the thread.

I'm a 24-year-old gal who loves Steampunk, but can't afford any of the gorgeous trappings (though I did find, wonder of wonders, a pair of goggles that fit over my glasses). "Rosetta" is a name just for this board. I live on the West Coast of the U.S. I like to read, write, draw, sew and bug people to teach me languages. I have tried to love tea in its own right, but after a sip I'm always scrambling for the sugar and milk. I love food as is evidenced by my girth. I am endlessly curious about the world beyond my home state because I've never left it, though I am very fond of it. If I could live anywhere in the world, I'd live in the Eastern Sierras. I'm looking for a pen pal of any age or gender as long as they live outside the U.S. I prefer snail-mail (I have my stamps ready), but e-mail would be acceptable.

I have written here before, but that was a long time ago, so I post again.
My name is Andrew, I live Budapest, the capital city of Hungary.
I'm looking for someone to exchange traditional letters, mainly from other countries. I'm eighteen years old, but I'm more mature than most people at my age, so older people are welcome to write. My interests:
Literature - everything, except modern (I mean contemporary)
History - almost everything, but my favorite topics are the Antiquity (especially Alexander the Great), the crusades, the eighteenth century (especially the Napoleonic wars) and the first world war.
Philosophy - I have some favorites from almost every era.
Music - classical music, I play on a classical guitar
Arts - drawing, painting, et cetéra.
... and of course, everything steampunk. :)

I think I've posted here before, but circumstances and interests change, and given my recent return to the BG community, I felt that an update was in order.
Greetings, penmen. I'm Mad Miss Holmes. I am mad, but "Miss Holmes" will do admirably for my purposes. I am a teacher with an obsessive personality, and though my obsessions vary monthly or weekly or daily, there are some that remain constant. I am passionate about:
*Sherlock Holmes and related material (check the screen handle for evidence)
*Writing - fiction and poetry
*Anthropology - my main field of enquiry and training, with emphasis on the archaeological
*Classical studies - Latin literature, primarily
*History - any era or locale; if I'm not familiar, research will be in order
*Mythology and Folklore, esp. of Western Europe and the British Isles
*Religion - comparative theology
*Hunting and the preparation of wild game

I am currently located in Texas, but I am willing to consider international post.

EDIT: For the moment, addresses are being shuffled. Correspondence will resume when things have settled.

Hello - I too seek correspondents. In fact, I have ]] dedicated to mail - however, my amusement derived from that endeavor is declining, and I may cease publication shortly.

I will continue to be interested in sending and receiving snail mail.  I am contemplating purchasing ink and fountain pen.  I occasionally engage in mail art. Would be willing to write "in character" or as myself. (I am rather a boring character.)

I am nearing 30, female, currently living in the prairie city of Winnipeg, Canada - but likely to be moving westward later this year. I'm interested in history (obviously) current events, environmental sustainability (but I'm not a vegan, and I do shower) - I sometimes follow major league baseball - I cycle, crochet, bake, read two or three books a month, write letters, garden, and gad about.

I'm adding myself in the "posted here before, but have renewed interest in a pen-pal" camp. I trust you lot more than I do the pen-pal sites, so thought I'd pop in here before I resort to those!

I really would like an international pen-pal for snail-mail correspondence, not necessarily in character, though I'm OK with that every so often. I think a female would be easier to relate to, being one myself, though I'm open to whatever. I'm also open for the occasional goodie swap - I love to craft things or send random treats/surprises that are unique to my locale, just small items easily posted in an envelope, though when it comes to holidays like Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas, all bets are off and who knows what kind of fun prizes you may receive :)

Anywho...that's all. On a personal note, I'm in the US, I'm in my 30's (*sigh* that looks scary in writing!), married to a wonderful bloke for 10 yrs this October, no kids/pets (though I love both!), into crafty things, baking, music, art, reading, photography, and obviously things of the steampunk variety. I also love Doctor Who, ice hockey, baseball, and am an anglophile. :)

Reposting my interest in having pen pals.

(To my current penpal Barbora, I have not forgotten you. Your last letter just surfaces amongst my belongings and I will be sending one off to you soon.)

I find my interests scatters across many subjects though I dabble in writing and reading the most. I am looking to share letters or emails with another who is interested in sharing experiences and a kind word over tea.

Right now, contrary to my previous post, I am looking for emails as my preferred method of contact though I also would not mind sending out more snail mail if that is the preference.

My email is which is the best method of reaching me if you find yourself interested.

A little about myself : My name is Morgan and I am 21 years old, attending University in New York. I love animals and currently own 3 betta fish, a cat and a ball python. I write fiction and am currently in the process of putting together an outline for an upcoming writing spectacle. I am a bit new to Steampunk culture though I wish to learn more about the art of creation and making things by hand.

I am currently looking for someone to help teach me the ways of Steampunk crafting... seeing as I'm doing horribly on my own. *sweatdrop*

Marvelous idea! I haven't had a pen-pal since I was a kid. I'd love to have a pen-pal again.

I am 22 year old student, studying to be a waitress, and I have no problems writing to other countries, in fact I'd love it. It would be nice if I could get a friend somewhere around my own age. I like books and movies, history (almost anything before the World Wars interests me), steampunk clothes and accesories ;D. Also nature is very close to my heart and I love plants. And I have two cats (plus the two cats my house-mate owns are almost like mine  ;))

I can write either by e-mail or traditionally, doesn't matter to me, though I think snail mail is more fun.

I would be most keen on a pen-pal! Absolutely splendid idea.

Where to start; I would prefer traditional mail as there is just a subtle joy about receiving it that I have yet to gain from e-mail. I shall be 21 years of age as of 12:43am tonight, I am male and living in South Africa. I have had in interest in Steampunk for at least 2 years but have only now started to come out of my shell somewhat to explore the lifestyle more. My interests include, but are not limited to:

* Archaeology and Anthropology (My field of study, I am currently pursuing a degree through the University of South Africa)
* Literature, Classics, Fantasy and Historical Fiction mostly but I am open to anything.
* Roleplaying. Tabletop or LARP, GM or Player
* Birding
* Hiking and Camping
* Painting Miniatures
* Tea
* Mythology and Religion. I am not religious in any way I have been able to define yet but I am not quite and Agnostic either.
* History. I absolutely love Dynastic Egypt and Mongolian 13th century history but pretty much anything interests me.
* Cooking. I fancy myself as a good cook and quite enjoy it (and the product thereof)
* Politics and Philosophy. While I have limited reading in both fields I do quite enjoy listening to conversations of those who do.

I am not particular about gender or age and do not mind an international pen-pal in the least

Greetings. A pen-pal would just brighten my little existence! I'm only interested in the snail-mail method( no one gets anything nice out of the mailbox anymore), and I would really like to do both real life letters, and persona letters. Otherwise I have no preferences.

I am 21 years old, madly in love with Steampunk, literature of all sorts, art, cooking, and general craftiness. I have a budding interest in history, a long standing love of nature and nerd things( like video games, roleplay, tabletop gaming). I am American, but I wouldn't mind in the slightest an international Pen Pal, or a local one, for that matter.

If your interested, you can PM me. :D

I'd love a Pen Pal.

I'd prefer traditional pen and paper, international pals are wonderful, I'm game for writing in persona or not, as the mood strikes.

I'm new to the Steam Universe, but have long loved the literature and art of Victorian Age.  I am a voracious reader and would welcome book suggestions.
I am 47, but pretend I'm 12 most days.  I work in a Microbiology laboratory, live in Upstate NY in the US, am a fervent gardener, crafter and seamstress wanna-be.
I'm also fond of garage sales, estate sales and the like (tag sales/boot sales for you Brits).  Other people's stuff is so much fun to sift through, and I've been slowly building a collection of steam stuff for a while.
I speak a little German, a little French, but English would be the favored language.

PM if you're interested :)
