Hello Dear Readers
Following on from a most successful visit to Lincoln this last weekend I wonder if any fellow Asylum seekers will be attending this Fayre. I do know that is get very very busy but that it is also very lovely. I would love to visit as I know friends who trade there ( they sell all things crystal and also bits of dinosaur) I could swan around all day in Lincolns old town attired as I was at the weekend. Anyone care to join myself and the Captain? It is about 1.5 hrs drive from Swaffham so completly do-able in a day.

That sounds like a splendid idea. I only live about 45 minutes down the road from Lincoln so getting there would be easy. I'm not sure what the dates are. When you decide what date you are going to attend let me know.

Here is the official website http://christmasmarket.lincoln.gov.uk/ its the first weekend of December and apparently gets VERY busy so parking may be an issue but on exploration ( in Steamy safari suit and pith of course)of the website I can see that park and ride is available so that mightbe the best way to go. I do know traders at this market whole trade in all things crystalline. Quartz crystals for your experimental weapons perhaps..? Well Dear Hearts there you have it.. Myself and Captain Keene will most likely attend and it would be nice not to be the only steamy people on show :-)

We would like to join people there if possible just a few words of caution:
Parking is non existent in Lincoln during the event - park and ride is essentially the only way to go unless you know someone who lives in the city and has parking spaces.
It is very difficult to "swan" or "amble" through town since it varies between a queue and a scrum in many locations. You are better in practical dress than promenading dress.
Finding a hostelry to eat or drink can also be problematic - expect to queue to get in and long waits to be served.

Our friends at Greenland Game do trade and have advised the same really as it can be a "bun fight" which is why we were recommended to go on the non-weekend days although this will be problematic. Dress code would be more of exploratory comfort than decadent dressing :-) Park and Ride most definitely and early start most assuredly.

If we're going to have a reasonable contingent I might tag along, usually I avoid the market, due to the aforementioned scrum-effect, but it might be more bearable with good company. We'll definitely all be getting to know onw another better, ctm Early (and possibly weekday), would be best for me, I can state definitively that we don't want to be in that area on Saturday evening without heavy-duty protective weaponry!

Good day to you Dear Sir.. Having discovered Lincoln and seen what a fine city the old city really is I am really lookig forwarto re-cisiting. I so know that the Christmas Festival can be a very busy event but I am sure that we will add some colour to the proceedings, plus dear dear friends of mine will be trading and it will also be nice to see them.. As you live inth local area could I task you with finding out the best time to come ( I beleive this is not the weekend sadly but also this would be the only time we could come) The Park and Ride has already been discussed as the best way to"get about" and i will be formalising plans at the forth coming Steampunk meet at the Whitby Gothic Weekend

Dear Lady, sadly the only quiet times at the Christmas Market are Friday daytime and Sunday daytime, even then it is not that quiet. Saturday during the day would be a good time to promenade, but as soon as nightfall comes, the venue erupts with people. I do not know if you are aware that all traders are in Victorian attire as well. I shall make a point of looking out for you at the forthcoming WGW event, perhaps we could discuss this further.

I would be most happy to join the party, I think this could be a very pleasurable outing and thank you Lady Ruff-Diamond for suggesting it.
Can I propose this be added as an agenda item, informally of course, to discuss over tea at Bothams on Saturday?
I would be most appreciative of any input from those with local knowledge as to the best dates and times to visit, but of course leave it in your capable hands.

Professor so marvellous to meet you at last.. I hope that you enjoyed your holiday by the sea. We even managed to make it to Harrogate but sadly did not have time to take the waters. Returning again to the possible visit to the Lincoln Christmas faire the most likel day be the Saturday and we would travel from Norwich to get there as early as possible (allowing for Captain Keene to prepare the motor car ( also known as having a bit of a lie-in). If you are stillinterested in meeting up tea (if thats even possible) we would love to meet with you. Anyone else who has expressed an interest please re-comment and I will begin preparations. Lady R-D

Dear Lady Ruff Diamond, so pleased that you are still interested in visiting the Christmas Market in Lincoln. Reading down the thread it looks as though there may be approx 20 of us, including myself, my good lady and two new recruits. I have a couple of ideas regarding tea which I will investigate further and let you know shortly.

Have been well advised to take the park and ride ( train form Norwich not viable ) Alternatively we may drive up Friday evening and stay overnight at a cheap BnB..this decison has not yet been made..but we will be attending the market so Professor please keep me abreast of your news regarding Tea.
T'a for now Lady R-D

Ladies and Gentlemen, May I recommend Stokes for tea in Lincoln. There tea shop is on the first floor of their shop at High Bridge in the High Street. The afternoon tea is up to our usual high standard. You will not be disappointed.
Yours , Lady Elsie.
