Jet-biking across the multiverse

I only just discovered that The Willows magazine has closed its doors.
That's a damned shame, as it was probably the most unique magazine for Victorian/Edwardian/Steampunk style fictional stories.
I had fully intended to send them a gothic tale at some stage.
The front covers alone were worth the price of the magazine.
The owner/editor sights money problems and expenditure outweighing income as one of the reasons The Willows closed its door...but I have to ask why niche magazines don't simply take advantage of Lightning Source or Lulu or similar POD companies?

Ah well..it's not for me to judge. And too late now for other printing means to be suggested.

Doubtless in the years ahead The Willows magazines will become much sought after collectors items.
I'd keep hold of any copies that any of you might have.

I guess we're left with Weird Tales magazine now.
Unless someone knows of another magazine publication that pays better than average rates for stories and artwork in the same vein as The Willows published?

Cheers: Jaq.
