I found a flier for an event called Victorian Day, which is happening this weekend (June 2nd) in Riverton, NJ. The website doesn't have much information ( http://www.victorianday.com), they suggest you call a telephone number, but it looks exciting enough to check it out. I plan on going, is anyone else thinking about it?

For me, it's a two hour drive each way. That might be a bit much for something that only lasts five hours. The place looks like a quaint little town and I did note at least two antique stores in the Riverton Directory, so I'll run it past my wife and see how it goes.

Javohl! Und to think not only is this local (17 minutes away WITH traffic) but i work just on the city outskirts in Delran. Oh i am going and taking my camera so i can post pictures here if you so wish. Additionally They have a beautiful clock on the side of a building overgrown with ivy.
Best regards, Your humble servant (for now), Baron Kolskegg Xothan Provisional Lord Governor of New Jersey (Southern Territories) of the Eastern Coast of the Northern Hemisphere of the New American Continent.

I'll have my camera, too! So, if you see someone persuading her friends to stand in ridiculous positions and such amongst the vintage bicycles they'll have there, you will know it's me.

So after work today i went to the clocktower i had (briefly) described and took a few night shots for you fine folks.... unfortunately when i got home i realized that Victorian Day is being held in RIVERTON not Riverside. *sigh* no big deal as it's only 7 minutes further out. http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&hl=en&saddr=Riverside,+NJ&daddr=riverton+nj&sll=40.000432,-74.992976&sspn=0.008219,0.019226&ie=UTF8&ll=40.024065,-74.975338&spn=0.032863,0.076904&z=13&om=0 None the less here are the two best pictures i took just a few hours ago (yes, i keep the hours of a Morlock) (sorry i didn't have a tripod with me) Best regards, Your humble servant (for now), Baron Kolskegg Xothan Provisional Lord Governor of New Jersey (Southern Territories) of the Eastern Coast of the Northern Hemisphere of the New American Continent.

Well, if anyone is planning on this, I'll be there and I'll be the girl wearing a waistcoat and watch fob.
Say hi! But, as bold as I am online, I will be insanely shy in person, so don't be upset if I can't make eye contact.

Excellent! I shall be the 'mundane' wearing a kente cloth waistcoat and tattered umbrella and top of unruly hair. It looks like you had a lot of fun. Let me know when you'll be going to another event.
By the bye- I (finally) have time to sponsor a silent movie night. Please let me know what weekend would be good for people.

A true alternative subculture is one that not only questions the social status quo but poses viable solutions to some of the perceived underlying problems. Difference from the norm is not the same as superiority to the mainstream unless it can be argued that the difference is positing a better way.
