BELT HELP!!!

I dont have a better photo right now, but I am looking for a belt that looks like the belt our friend captain nemo is wareing in the attached photo, what kind of belt or kind of buckel is he wareing!

The central disc will be in two parts, each connected to the metal loops. The larger disc will have a hole in the middle, large enough to the fit the smaller disc inside it. Often this will only be possible by twisting the smaller disc so that it slides through horizontally, before being turned 'up' to lay flush against the larger disc.

I would like to purchace it, while Making it would be fun its for a costume (captain nemo actually) so I dont want quality

You're looking for what's called a "spoon" buckle.  It was used mostly on officer's sword belts during, and shortly after the Civil War. It is sometimes still used by military officers (field grade and above) for their pistol/sword belts.

That kind of buckle was very popular when I was a kid back in the 60's. Usually attached to an elasticated stripey belt. I had a buckle like that on my Cub Scout uniform..

I was just about to post that there will probably be a load of scouting buckles on ebay which are very similar, but if memory serves, not as big as that particular example I think the belts for the scouting ones were about and inch and a quarter, maybe slightly wider.

These belts are really, REALLY fashionable in the UK at the moment, you can get them everywhere, especially in cheapy shops and charity shops. I can find them for a pound or cheaper. I have one with a brass cockroach as the buckle

I don't normally look for belts in charity shops. But thanks foir the heads up. I might see if I can get a stock of them in as they are quite nice in a kind of militaristic way.

There's a brass one listed on eBay for ~ $15 US.  It's a Confederate States repro, but you could pretty easily cover up the big C S.

WOW thats great!! not for what I need it for, but I Am actually a Boy Scout Leader back here in Canada, so this definately interested me!



I also saw the CS one, I have a little time before I need this costume, so I am going to look around for one with a better design on the front, I also found some other great sites which sold Civil war replics of these too, not overly expensive

We used to have similar ones when I was in the scouts, but they were rectangular with a round bit in the middle
