If this doesn't trip triggers around this joint, the game is doomed: http://monstersinthesky.com/?p=217Leviathan is a not-yet-released game of miniature air ship combat. This is the pre-production miniature they were showing off at GenCon:

The latest additions to my VSF Prussian army, inspired by Girl Genius: Jagermonsters are converted Flintloque figures and human jagers are by Ironclad. The clank was shamelessly copied inspired by Capt Blackstone's excellent miniatures - after all, they so say that imitation is the best form of flattery.

Nice, sir, very nice. By your comments, I gather you sculpted the clanker? (Do I see a few Eldar parts in him?)
Good work, all around.

These are all quite amazing miniatures. I play warhammer fantasy so there really isn't much opportunity for steampunking but I am probably going to make a diorama of some steampunk sort in the near future.

Pish Posh! GW look and feel be damned! Convert, son. Convert! What army you play? You'd have to run the theme across an entire force, but Empire (steam tank!), Vampire Counts, Dwarves (no dugh) Orks, and maybe chaos would steampunk nicely. Less so Britania, Ogers, frog people, and the Elves, I suppose.

I know what I'm about to say would be considered the gravest heresy, but even though I kind of like the idea of tabletop games, the miniatures and such are just too damn expensive....
....Which is why my friends and I use LEGOS for our D&D/other table top gaming.... They come pre-painted, are easily customized/re-configured and cost WAY less (and that's saying something right there) than the die-cast stuff...
Still good job all. Maybe I could post some of my steampunk Lego creations (I have a whole post-apocalyptic steampunk them going... It allows me to mix and match the various themes, though not so much with the space stuff)....
I have a weird gyrocopter (with knight and decorated with shields) armed with twin flame cannons, various Adventurers (modded and original) vehicles, a HUGE Japanese-style castle with hidden-away command center, ray gun and multi-warhead IRBM that happens to be guarded by a combination of samurai and knights (with a more conventional cannon on the roof), among other things....

My forces of the old world have never acknowledged the alleged sentience of those stinking rats. Hikaro Takayama, you are right, there is a definite cost of entry to mini gaming. Personally I'm more into the miniatures than the actual gaming (most of the time) so get-by solutions defeat the purpose but I don't begrudge these expediants to others. I will, however, for the sake of civility, refrain from sharing my opinions on pre-painted miniatures, particularly of the randomly packaged with artificial rarity variety.

Well I am excited about this thread. I've been interested in miniatures for a while but I never look into them before. Now I get a better idea of them. Though as of yet I don't have the capitol to get involved in them. Nor do I have anyone to game with. I love building models and I have a good collection of German Nazis. (They may have been our mortal enemies... but dammit they knew how to dress snappy).

Yeah, I quite agree... That's why I like Legos: You can completely dismantle a mini figure (or any building) and re-arrange the parts however you want (sort of like the one gentleman did with his die-cast miniatures to make his Jaegermonsters)... That Castle I mentioned consumed most of three entire Samurai themed lego sets to build, but it was worth it! (In order to access all the rooms in the caslte, including the dungeon, you have to detach the detachable top floor and then pull the castle in half... It currently houses over 30 mini figures and could hold even more than that!)

I personally think the Death Korps of Krieg are just crying out to be Steampunked: Damn you Forge World and your many pretty things that I cannot afford. (Also, why didn't I think of Steampunking my Necrons! Ah well, they're very nice in purple.)

Do you find that this limits your scope of action much, given the scale difference between 25mm and LEGO? Also, does the temptation of all those LEGO parts on the side distract the players?

Not really, since ALL my gaming friends preferred Lego minis, and while the parts were somewhat distracting, that was more than made up for my the ability to portray fairly realistic "battle damage" on both the mini figures AND the structures (i.e. holes blown in walls by spells/catapults, decapitated/dismembered corpses of one's, ah, FORMER enemies, etc), after which, you could just put them back together when you were done. In RP gaming (D&D, etc), you could also quickly re-configure the different figures and such to represent different groups of baddies and such...

Depends on what type of dance you are referring to. Classically trained, however I must confess my ballroom skills are somewhat lacking. I can waltz but that's all. In this fine city in which I live we have a fair few Lady Gamers. I feel somewhat lucky to be surrounded by beautiful, intelligent nerd ladies (and of course the dashing Gentleman Gamers too).

Attempting a bit of thread resurrection, as the other thread about miniatures is a bit too 40K focused for my taste. A few interesting little bits have hit the market lately. First up, from SmartMax in 1/35 (still wish they'd gone with a normal wargaming scale) is this attractive fellow: http://www.smartmaxstore.com/streetbot-willy.htmAnd MicroArt studios have started a line they are calling "steampulp," (the term "pulp" gets used a lot in gaming): http://www.shop.microartstudio.com/wolsung-miniatures-c-61.html
