Emerald City was great fun.  It was a pleasure meeting the lovely Delireus and faithful Bubbles in person.  Next on the docket, Steampunk Christmas on Dec 10th.  In the Wichita area Jeremiah is organizing a blood and food drive.  I'm pretty sure there is a steampunk friendly concert in the KC area the same night.

The Manhattan Steampunk Society is going to a steampunkish concert here in Manhattan this Thursday, the 17th. The band is called White Ghost Shivers, they play vaudvillian music, stuff from the turn of the century, very odd actually. But it's pretty cool. It's at 8 at a bar called Aunty Mae's Parlor, and cover is 10$. We're also planning a Christmas party, but I'm not sure when that will be. I wish Wichita was closer!

Hmm, I know I'm not near Hays (I'm in manhattan) but perhaps someone is! I'd say look on facebook for steampunk groups near by as well.

Here in Manhattan though, a local paper did an article on my steampunk club I've started at K State! This issue was made to look like it was written in the 1930's, so a lot of the grammar is odd, and while the bulk of the article was fabricated (alas we do not plan to make an airship any time soon) it's still pretty awesome. Also in Manhattan, I've just found this woman who sells steampunk jewelry on etsy! She's got some cool stuff and the same newspaper who did an article on the club will be featuring her and other local artists in an upcoming issue. So, in other words, you may never know what cool people are in your town, it just takes time to find them, good luck, tophatdan!

There was talk about a trip to Lindsborg some time back but I don't think anything was ever organized.  That is about the closest to Hays I've heard any talk about for a possible outing.  There aren't many western Kansas members on the Great Plains Steampunk page so I haven't heard of anything out that way.  I'll put up a query there though and see if it gets any replies and let you know.  I just recently found out that there is going to be not one, but two steampunk events less than twenty minutes from my house.  In Winfield Ks! One Dec 10th and 11th, and another Dec 17th.  So, like Delireus said, you never know.

We (BB BlackDog) are over the pond to headline Anomaly Con Denver in March, and the following weekend down to Texas for a steampunk event being put on for us by a group down there, anything happening over in Kansas around then ?, we'll be quite close.

Hello BB! Sadly, I'm not aware of anything at the moment, but if you keep an eye on the Great Plains Steampunk page, which lists a lot of things going on in Kansas and all over central US, as well as the KC steampunk page, perhaps you will find something or someone who knows about something

I know Wichita is very big on steampunk events. There is a small gamer con here at Kansas State and they want to make one day of it a steampunk day! I'm in contact with the head of the con about getting that set up, but that won't be until February I think. Either way, I'm excited!

The Wichita group is very active, they usually do at least 1 or 2 things a month, if not more. The Kansas City group does not seem as active, but they also hold events each month. Sadly, the Manhattan group (the only one I am aware of is the one I started) is not active at all! i'm a student and while we meet once a week, not a lot of people come and I have run out of ideas as to what to do. But, after the Christmas break, I hope things will pick up.

There are actually two active groups in Wichita. Wichita Steampunks which is a collection small groups and individuals that get together whenever we can organizing more get togethers and invasions rather than events. Last weekend they did a blood drive and the last weekend in Oct went on an art crawl of local galleries that where having steampunk exhibits and then to a steampunk friendly concert at America's Pub.  And there is also Airship Nox which is trying to start organizing events.  The Nox crew held a ball last weekend for example.

Well we have a very small group in Russell and Hays, only about 7 or 8 of us and primarily we just get tarted up and go out to bars every weekend. Need to get a few more of us together if we can so we can do an event maybe.
