You have to be kidding me. It's April 1st..right? You want/expect £390 pounds for a painted water pistol with a  couple of glued on cogs? I'm sorry but, decent poaint job or not that is...outrageous!

Thats a buy 'now price' and starts off and £50 and its not a squirt gun dear Capt Dribble or whatever. lt's the time and effort for the metal ornate curlicues throughout ...not to mention my works quite well know in the arts as well as sci-fi work l've done in TV.

You are an excellent painter and decorator as well as an outstanding photographer ... I understand why you charge like a wounded bull for a:

A crap 1 dollar toy,(£1 shops UK) again a modification and l added all the ornate pattern detail, you can get these metalic detailed pattern sheets from craft shops that are adhesive

but 350 Pounds is outrageous at best, &^%$## at worst.

I'm selling one myself. It's not painted but it does come in a little leather holster.
And it's a lot cheaper than £50.

I guess people have paid similar amounts for well painted GW figures, and they are just well painted bits of plastic too.

It's just a little red leather belt holster.
I'm not sure it would work with your pistol though as it's quite a tight fit and would probably rub off the paint

Sounds good, my garter pistols primed lacquered well so wont rub off, hope to see it someday ;-)

I absolutely loath pricing artwork.  It's all a constant battle of demand, fame, and economics.  I have a couple paintings that locally I have refused to put a price tag on because I know I'll never sell them.  (and that's even just the time of production assuming the hourly minimum wage)  If you believe you can sell it for that price, do it, if not....hey it's still worth a try.

The photography is exellent but I have to agree with sandpunk. And the paint jobs are just a bit of blending and drybrushing, although very well done.

I have no idea as to the value of your work, but I am very glad that you have posted it.  Big companies spend millions on market research and here at BG we get it for free.  

The competition is not between those that make and others that make.  The competition is between those that make and those that buy.  As a maker I want to see what others are making, how they are priced and do they sell.  

If some other maker thinks:
- they can do the same thing for less, then great.
- they can do better for the same price, great again.
- they can do better for a higher price, also great.

There are really only a small handful of people in the world that have the skill, creativity, time, etc. to make the things we see on Brass Goggles.  There are millions of potential customers. Recognize each posting as a learning experience.  There is so much to learn.

Well put Maets.  Having spent a lifetime making stuff I have often heard the things you stated and agree with your answers. About the only difference is ; when I hear the "I can do that! Why should I buy it ?" line  it is fairly easy to tell if they ever will do it. Often it's said to A: impress the young lady they are with or B: to avoid spending money  or C: both of the above.

I have heard of that too.  One of my artist friends always said that sometimes she never sold something until she raised the price.  It's like some trick in the human mind to want the more expensive thing probably on the assumption that it is most likely better.

As some of you may know, I work in a used book store, & we deal with Amazon a bit.  We have noticed that some people will invariably buy the most expensive copy of a particular book offered, EVEN IF THEY ARE ALL LISTED AS BEING IN THE SAME CONDITION- seems that some people think that more expensive automatically means better...

Sales of my wood turnings more than doubled when  I increased the prices by 25%. I think the term is perceived value.  It is odd how the human mind works.
