Yay.... I've almost finished my project, I just need some epoxy putty< Something Kneedable (play dough, clay, etc.)> to reinforce the insides and it will be done.

My next problem is getting a photo of it before before I take off to Burning Man, my digital camera died on me......

K-9,
You look absolutely smashing, something about a man in uniform, LOL

I made my way down into the depths of the NDN Arms co. Avoiding the regulators was a little harder today, seems that all of them were on duty around the labs. I was as stealthy as possible considering that I had several flasks of my finest "snake oil" secreted about my person.
The boys in the R&D lab were glad to see me, they showed me the project that was commissioned for the challenge, made off with the flasks and swore me to secrecy. They are building a two part device, one being the sighting portion and the business end that fires the projectiles. When asked about a delivery date there was a little muffled talking amongst the team, I was frisked for any remaining flasks, and escorted to the egress.
I surmise that you all will find out as soon  as I have a definitive product in hand. The device looks quite good, although experimental, I believe that it should function well. Ground as well as Airship deployment seems quite feasible, the variety of payloads delivered is quite extraordinary.

I will divulge this little tidbit of the construction, there is a photonic sighting and ranging device incorporated into the design. What that really means I am not sure but it seems very exciting in the lab so I am excited as well.

does black undercoat count as one of your paint colours if you can't see any of it? or does it count as a construction item as it is preparing the surface to apply one of your chosen colours?

Nefthys ,
Thank you for hosting this challenge, it has been great fun so far !
The project is nearing completion and looking like a keeper. I have one question to ask though. Will plexiglass be allowed in the "glass" definition ?
If not it will be OK, I just wanted to check and try to stay with in the parameters set forth.
The boys in the NDN Arms R&D division are starting to get antsy, they want a posting of the beast pretty soon, patience it not their long suit, so to speak.

Already?!?!  Shocked

I've been incredibly pressed for time of late, I doubt I'll make the deadline but if I don't I'll still go ahead and finish the build as I can and post it.  Undecided

Well, it didn't end up quite as elaborate as I'd envisioned, but I didn't want to end up using things for the sheer sake of it and ending up with basically a pile of garbage glued to my head. So, here's my offering - I needed to put together an outfit for an event I'm going to in October, and this has kicked off my ideas quite nicely. (My concept is based around 'time travelling photographer' after digging out a nifty looking old camera in a rather lovely brown leather shoulder case, so the hat is sort of leaning towards that.)

- 3 items from a Hardware store: Push lights; spray paint; all-purpose glue
- Something Red: Red satin fabric
- Glass: Glass bottle stopper
- 1 item from a friends house (stolen or borrowed): Small hand mirror
- Child's toy: Small water pistol
- Item from garbage. Dumpster diving or browsing the office recycle bin, both count: Luggage tag
- Buttons of any kind (either the kind to launch a weapon, or ones that hold your clothes on. Your choice): Four antique brown buttons
- 5 paint colours of your choice: Black and brown acrylic, copper, brass and silver spray.
- 2 types of fabric: Black felt; brown satin ribbon
- Leather: Tan leather thonging
- Item of your choice: One cheap top hat from a costume shop

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

And a few of it on my head, before attaching the light to the front. Excuse the extreme closeups, hard to take a photo of yourself whilst holding a heavy camera at arms length.

Hello Everyone
I stopped by the NDN Arms R&D department today. The boys were all excited and quite proud of the project and the way it turned out. It turns out that they have come up with a monocle linked to a recoiless rifle. I have seen the fruits of there labors and am quite impressed.
Targetting is controlled through a photonic projector on the rifle and the cross hairs on the monocle . I was treated to a complete rundown of what was used in the construction of this prototype weapons system, we will get to that later.

The highlight of the day was spent on the firing range, taking turns laying waste to various pieces of machinery that had outlived there usefullness. This unit is very accurate, easy to use and capable of delivering a wide variety of unpleasant things to you're intended target.

So here is the parts list, followed by a few pics of the monocle as well as the recoiless rifle.

Monocle

3 items from a Hardware store
copper tube, brass tube, brass rod

 Something Red
 red leds

1 item from a friends house (stolen or borrowed)
small copper wire used as crosshairs, attached to monocle

Buttons of any kind (either the kind to launch a weapon, or ones that hold your clothes on. Your choice.
Copper clad power supply with red push button switch, turns on the LED in the monocle for enhanced night vision

  Leather
3 types, hard tanned, oil tanned and deer hide

 Something taken from something else
copper wire absconded with for wiring the electrical circuit

2 items from a garbage. Dumpster diving or browsing the office recycle bin, both count
buckles from three dog collars and two bails used to slide the straps through, the next door neighbor was throwing them away as her dogs had outgrown them

 Glass
Plexi glass for the monocle lens, from the scrap bin at work, kind of a two for one, category wise

 3 items of your choice
1/2 inch copper tube, copper pipe caps, Gorilla glue

also used in construction, brass rivets, batteries and boot lace as a wire covering

 Rocket Launcher

Thermionic valves (2),  pine wood. thick copper wire, Leds; two green, one red and one blue, plastic box, red pushbutton switch,
batteries, copper wire, cloth wire loom, copper tube and caps, 5Mw laser module, brass screws, threaded brass rod and brass nuts,
six colors of paint ( flat black, metallic silver, primer grey, copper metallic, tan, flat white ), four inch PVC piping,
drywall screws and a heat sink from a 1999 Ford Mustang stereo system.

Several pints of beer, to foster creativity as well as to slake my thirst whilst building this project !!

I must give credit to my minions, Michael for help with the constructions and Bridgett for fashion and color combination advice,
last but not least, my wife, Michelle for tolerating all of this !!
