 :D :D :D

what ... did I just watch?

the NEIGHBORS down the hall heard me laughing!

wins SECOND LOL prize for today as the day's first
*guffaw* was won earlier in a private chat...

(ps - Oakes - I laughed at the photo lovely job!)

**contest rules** post must bring a genuine 'guffaw' (sometimes written as a true Bwahahahaaa in etherweb lingo) one usually heard in the apartment hallway from Officer Dwyer. Not unusually difficult but extra points are generously allotted for those  do indeed make beverages erupt with velocity at the same time. OTT Nose eruptions are few and far between and considered too comedically dangerous for all concerned to be attempted by any other than experienced professionals. All rules are subject to change at any time or on mere whim as per spec.

This is creepy, cruel and funny all at the same time:  Cat dies and the owner has the cat stuffed (I don't know if he did it himself), but emerges from Taxidermy as a remote controlled quad-copter.

http://io9.com/5915156/this-quadcopter-is-made-from-a-taxidermied-cat

This is so wrong at many levels...

I can't begin to say...

but I SPAMMED it just the same

I found a hilarious picture of me on the internet and I really hope my friend who has it, has set it to public....it is awesome!!!!!

If not, I guess I am left to describe it as a victorian photo-bomber....with a glass of absinthe and you should really become my friend on facebook.   ;D
Awesome.

I think, perhaps, that somebody is a fan of Calvin & Hobbes…

Calvin and Hobbes was, without a doubt, the greatest comic strip ever committed to paper. I was gutted when Tom Watterson called it a day on C&H.
I say, Joe it's jolly frightening out here.
Nonsense dear boy, you should be more like me.
But look at you! You're shaking all over!

Seconded and thirded.

I often find that the greatest admirers of Calvin & Hobbes see something of Calvin in their own early years—could this be true for you, Capt D?  :)

Oh absolutely..although my enviroment was completly different to Calvin's (I was raised in East London) I had a teddy bear that was very much 'alive' when we were alone.

I don't mean to be a smartass, but it's Bill Watterson; he's a cousin on my wife's side.  Please forgive me.

As much as it pained me to know he stopped, I have nothing but the greatest admiration for Watterson knowing how to quit at the heights (instead of slipping to Pogo or Li'l Abner levels of disappointment) and for his steadfast refusal to merchandise the characters.

I'd have to agree with you there.

I had mixed feelings.  On the one hand, there'd never be anything new.  On the other hand, he quit while he was ahead.  Every strip was a classic and it would have been too easy to milk such a series until it was dry.  Sorely missed, but dearly loved.

Introduced to C&H by a college mate: he handed me several photocopied sheets of Spaceman Spiff and said "He reminds me of you..."

I was always in awe of his Tracer Bullet strips; while mocking the pulp genre, he nailed it better than some authentic pulp writers.

"I've got eight slugs in me. One's lead, and the rest are bourbon. The drink packs a wallop and I pack a revolver."

Others only worked because the art fit so well, work that I'd put on par with Sin City...

I still get C&H every day via e-mail.  The Snowmen series made me laugh out loud.  There's a bit of Calvin and Hobbes in all of us, I think.  Or there should be.

Not a picture, except the one in my head, but the oddest "classical" poem I've seen in a while:
(er, taken in context I'm sure she meant his eyeballs.)

A Dying Tiger—moaned for Drink

566

A Dying Tiger—moaned for Drink—
I hunted all the Sand—
I caught the Dripping of a Rock
And bore it in my Hand—

His Mighty Balls—in death were thick—
But searching—I could see
A Vision on the Retina
Of Water—and of me—

'Twas not my blame—who sped too slow—
'Twas not his blame—who died
While I was reaching him—
But 'twas—the fact that He was dead—

Emily Dickinson
