there is also this frensh female singer called emilie simon..she makes electro pop music wich is not exacly steampunk but her latest album has a stampunk feel to it. it is called the big machine and i love it  she even wears a steampunk like costume on the cover of the album. I know her! She's so awesome. A bit Bjork-ish. Really sweet stuff. Not sure if she could be called steampunk. Perhaps in places. For those who don't know her.

october of 2009 i met a band, a wonderful band, and told them they had a steam punk feel to them. first they truly thought or heard of it. they cam back to my home town in april and we talked again. they play with abney park twice year once in michiogan and again in november in seattle. The band i refer to is non other then The Gypsy Nomads, check em out, They are a folk/punk/instrumental french singing bunch of fun people from new york. one of the best shows ive seen in a while.

The "red/white" cables you're asking about are auxillary. In general theory, you'd plug the converter into whatever cassette player you're using, run rca cables from the converter plug into the usb doohickey, and it should go from there. I'm a bit of an audio buff so feel free to get a bit more in depth and I'll see what I can do. PM me. |

Dionysos definitely has some steampunk songs. Their album La Mécanique du Coeur is VERY steampunk in my opinion. Here's my personal favorite by them: Tais-toi mon coeur. (Shut up my heart).

i incline to the electronic side, tho' primitive electronica--that does not try to hide the artifice of its making... theremins, pure waveform generated sounds & the like. now, Morton Subotnick may be a meager sideline to 60's kitsch for us, but i can easily visualize another 60's in which modernity's devices were put to another use than making the teen-aged dance. this album, while more like a zeppelin-out-of-control than any semblance of Victorian aesthetics in itself, has the undeniable advantage of being free: http://hedgehogcoitus.bandcamp.com/one day i had this playing in the bookstore where i worked, & a certified schizophrenic of my acquaintance, volunteered the opinion that it sounded exactly like the noises in his head. m. |

It is 10 minutes long and blatantly rips off Dream Theater and Gerschwin. :-)
