I'm in!
I'd like to see your Lulu book projects too if I could... I plan on making a (totally unrelated) picture book myself.

Anyone is able to participate. I'm going to be doing sections in the book based on steampunk stereotypes. For example "The Mad Scientists" or "The Explorer" and so costumes should represent a genre. People can do multiple costumes and appear a few times in the book if you have multiple persona's you want to represent. There is also going to be a "Crew" section with group photo's of Airship Crews then followed by individual pictures of the crew and their job on the airship. The last section of the book is going to have a snap shot section, so if you have some lesser quality, or simple "fun" photos, they can go in there. They will be represented similar to a polaroid type picture. So far the stereotype sections of the book are: The Mad Scientist, The Explorer, The Gentleman, The Lady, The Sky Pirate, Grease Monkey, Weapons Specialist, The Villain, and The Seductress. The last section will be the Crew section. Suggestions are always welcome as for new sections. To participate I basically need high quality photographs with the model name (real or steampunk persona), Photographers name, which section you want to be in, and a short bio or description of your character. If you are unsure about a good quality for your photo, just ask me. Or if you only have lower quality pics, they can go in the snap shots section. All participants can email their pics and info to steambook@gmail.comI hope to have lots of people! I am wanting this to be a big project and a big book. How about a section for those who go thier own way and don't follow a sterotype?

I wonder if there mightn't be a place in the book for steampunk creations? I know that many of the most talented makers on this forum might be proud to share images of their steampunk computers, telephones, cars etc.
While I don't have images and talents like this to share...I'll bet 100 pounds sterling that there are many who might...
Respectfully submitted,

I did think about this and my concern is the book getting away from the focus of the people, which it was it's about. Having pictures of people with their creations is perfectly fine.

So I wanted to start making a book I hope to sell in my mothers gallery. I wanted to do the people of steampunk, anyone who wishes to have their photograph in their steamy outfit is welcome. I wanted to have a good quality picture and a little description/story of the character per page.
I did mention earlier that I would participate, but without fully reading the original post. I'd be happy to help but I refuse to do anything regarding a persona. I've said this before around this site but I don't have nor feel I shall ever need a 'character' because I myself am a steampunk. I understand some may buy into that sort of thing, but I do not and whilst I would never have a go at someone for it (because how in the world would they have known), I find people's compulsion to invent a persona to be somewhat demeaning, almost insulting to my own lifestyle. I listen to strange industrial-classical because I enjoy it. I dress in waistcoats and fine shirts because I really do love that look. I love watching machines and making things because it has intrigued me since I was a child. There is no character outside of the confines of my own personality, and I sometimes wish others would do the same and accept who they are just as easily as they do inventing some fantasy. I seem to have gone on a bit of a rant, haven't I. I am not degrading anyone here, nor would I ever, people's business is their own and I've no place interfering. The point I am laboriously attempting to reach is that if you require people to come up with some fantasy background then I shan't join in, if not, then I'd heartily enjoy being part of the project. Longwinded rants aside (I suppose I just needed to vent it, sorry. >_<).

I have a MASSIVE selection of photos both of myself individually and the full Crew of the HMS Valkyrie. Do we enter individually or as a group? Or both?
Also, as Leadmill has said, we all have an extensive backstory!

i'd love to participate and i hope i can get my photographer friend and his shiny camera to give me a hand. You might want to concider model release forms just so you can cover yourself legally. here is one on deviant art http://forum.deviantart.com/galleries/photography/506206/?offset=40just print, sign and then scan and email. if you dont have a scanner then most post office's or libraries can help you out.
