Well, so far I've seen the first 72 minutes of the pilot episode (damn you Megavideo, and your 72min cutoff...!), and so far it looks OK. Reminds me a lot of 'Eureka' - similar in style. I'm impressed enough to want to watch the rest of the series. I think it *could* be quite good, given enough time to mature (ie not killed off after the first series...). I agree some of the props were a bit 'meh', but not the worst I've seen on a TV show. Some of the props / set looked quite good however - and by Cog I want one of Datamancer's keyboards more than ever now! *drools* SS

Ooookay, I have just watched the pilot. Rather enjoyable, actually. Some of the humor was cheesy and forced, but that is nothing new on SyFy( agreed, ridiculous name). With luck, this show will take off and run for at least a few seasons, then be retired before it reaches the realm of perpetually cliched plotlines. Sincerely, sGmD P.S. A warehouse, full of unexplained and possibly dangerous artifacts, and the new guys have to track down more unexplained and possibly dangerous artifacts? Has anyone else seen "The Librarian"? Which I like, btw.

I thought the same sGmD, its a shame they aren't doing more with The Librarian. I cast my vote For this series, I love it. I believe it was mentioned before that this seemed like they took the last few minutes of the Indy Jones movie where they shoved the arc in that warehouse (later to be found out to be Base 51? >> mmm!!) and spun a show off of it. Honestly, that was enough for me to get interested in this show
I'm already planning on making my own Dectector, based off of Arty's mechanism hoisted over his shoulder
... I do believe that's not spoilerish in any manner, so I shall keep it there >>;

Initial impression...not too bad. I note that 'Sci-Fi' has now become 'Sy Fy', which I think is stupid, but it's not as if anyone consults me before they make these blunders.... Thistlewaite They couldn't copyright 'Sci Fi', they COULD copyright 'SyFy'. Guess they're seriously trying to establish the brand. Anyhoo, the pilot was ok, I guess. Kinda a mix between Special Unit 2, X-Files, and Friday the 13th: The Series. I give it 1 season, then they kill it. Hell, look what they did to 'Flash Gordon'.

They sooo butchered Flash Gordon ... I'm usually fan of ol' Flash, but could only watch 1 episode of that atrocity. I give this 1 season too. The Pete & Myka remind me of the pair, from the show "Bones". By cog, I sure hope Pete ends up in bed with Leena, and not Myka.

I've watched the pilot three times. That made me laugh each time. It will be interesting to see how the actors are once "pilotitis"* wears off. *Pilots are usually written generically for actors (who have yet to be cast), but after a while scripts get tailored to the actor's strengths and weaknesses.

I enjoyed the new episode. I think this show really has potential.
So, anyone have ideas about the story behind the football? Is it the football or the location?

Football I think. I recall an episode of mythbusters that spoke of footballs and "lofting", that is getting more air time by putting helium into instead of air
perhaps this is a similar event? a record breaking long-pass or something, becoming an heirloom perhaps, each time the energy of the player's prowess adding to it until you need a WATCH to beep to tell you "incoming"

No idea whether it's the football or the location, but I'd be willing to put my money on the football. Though I could be entirely wrong, but it would make sense given the other items in storage.
Though I could see the locale making sense too....

<Picking up my grain of salt and going to Wikipedia...> The Rugby Football, which acts like a boomerang when thrown and returns to the location from which it was thrown some time later, presumably having traveled a significant distance (implicitly around the world)I'm liking the show.

Character roles are well established and simple, everyone's interesting and they have a plethora of historic objects and urban legends to draw upon for material. I think the show is amazing so far as it doesn't go the way of CSI and lose all overlaying plot elements.
It's Indiana Jones meets the X-Files with a steampunk twist to it.

the second episode was very encouraging. Most of the stuff that needed to be worked out from the first as far as bumpy character development and a lack of subtlety and depth seemed to disappear.
I noticed a bit of the syryns song and the argonauts in part of the story but that's far from a bad thing.
I also have to say I rather like the way the two main characters don't seems to really have that whole impending relationship vibe. They are like two guys hanging out, or a really close brother and sister.
I like it better that way then the often over used sexual tension.

here here. Also, the snarking is more fun if there's no underlying sexual tension. So, you too thought "Ooh, Siren's song!" when you first saw the ep?

Did anyone else notice the tag on the mirror Lattimer was standing in front of while playing ping-pong? It was labeled 'Lewis Carrol', which I missed the first time I saw the second episode....
So I suppose I should call it what it truly is 'The Looking Glass'.

I can understand it being labelled Lewis Carroll so that the literary link would be unmistakeable, but should it not also have been labeled Reverend Dodgson? or am I being unnecessarily pedantic?

Probably not — as I understand it, Mr. Carroll and the good Reverend would have as little to do with one another as possible. Despite, you know, sharing a body and all...

caught the pilot and the first episode on hulu, very quirky and I like it!
hope they keep up the pace and don't fall into the standard cliche plot sinkholes.
it would be wonderful if they used the talents present here on the show!

Well, I LOVE Warehouse 13, not least because of the opportunities for star steampunk makers to get mainstream showcasing. Also, I am a sucker for sheer entertainment with modest intellectual content and no aspirations to highbrow-ness.
My only criticism is that we dont get enough lingering shots on the amazing props.
Has anyone posted anything on how to make the video tins?

Probably not — as I understand it, Mr. Carroll and the good Reverend would have as little to do with one another as possible. Despite, you know, sharing a body and all... The little I know about Dr.Dodgson suggests that he took great pleasure in teaching logic to women, who were generally considered incapable of grasping the principles of such an abstruse subject, and as far as I can remember, were not permitted to attend university during his tenure. But the dichotomy also reminds me of one Dr.Jehan de Tabourot who, despite his efforts in the field of mathematics, is best remembered now for his counter-identity's dance manual.
