I won't be able to make it next Sunday, but the way things are shaping I wouldn't have been able to make it tomorrow either.

Oh well, I'll probably get a chance to meet people some other time.

(I know I have busy Sundays; honestly though I'm not a Realtor!  I swear it!  Tomorrow it's a transportation issue and next Sunday is another event...no, not Open Houses!  Just clearing that one up in advance. Wink )

Okay!

Flooding has been contained, we are on an even keel again!  Hope all can make it. This Sunday, the 26th, Lambholme, Ferndale, Glen Burnie.

Things have been in a bit of a flux lately, as I am sure you all know by now.  Normally there is not so much drama here at West Drive, but I think we have it all sorted.  And it seems as though all will be pretty much as promised before; and it seems that the new date suits some even better, as there may be more people who can make it this weekend than could have last.

If anybody needs directions or a contact number, let me know by PM or email.  Finding six-oh-four on our street should not be a problem, and I will put something out front to draw the eye - it is a white Dutch Colonial with a spruce in the front yard, and a detached garage to the side, on the left as you go up the hill.  The only problem would be finding the wrong West Drive, as there are two in Glen Burnie; the wrong one is in 21060, we are in 21061.

Hope everyone can make it - grills will light off around noon, you could show up before then (please, not before ten, though, I need sleep and coffee!).  There will be coffee and baked goods for early arrivals, though.

Thank you, one and all, for your patience and understanding.  I think the results will be wonderful!

Cheers.

The Camerae Obscurae plan to come. When will the projects be presented? After the food as at Savage Mill? We will print some handouts on our project. Captain, do you think there will be more than the 12 you forecast for the meeting that was "washed out"?

Wow - Possibly more, I will have to compile all the maybes and surely-wills and get back to you.  I would say no more than 15, though.

As far as when... whenever you want.  The phrase "herding cats" comes to mind, but I am sure that I can beat them into submission um, get their undivided attention for you, just tell me when.

It is wonderful that you can make it.  That did have me worried.

We should have a bit firmer number by Saturday, certainly.  Someone please remind me if I haven't said anything by, say, noon on Saturday.

Cheers!!!

Capt sir, I'd appreciate it if you could PM me the address & other direction info you sent out last time as I was not attending then and had no need for them.

I've got a presentation (color handouts too, going big time!) on the upcoming BG post for the steampunk work cubicle makeover project for our vetting pleasure.  Forewarned is forearmed - bring your own industrial strength No-Doz to avoid falling asleep in the salsa dip.  If we can't get to the presentation before I have to get back and re-join my wife's overnight weekend guests from PA (who are out riding their spoiled horses for 3-4 hrs) you can still 'volunteer' someone to take the podium in my place. Right!

It is on for tomorrow.  Please check in if you haven't already, doing our best to get a good head-count.  BUT!  If you decide at the last moment that you can come, PLEASE DO COME!  Don't stand on ceremony - we will not run out of food and good cheer, and I KNOW we will not run out of conversation and mutual inspiration.

If anybody needs directions, or has last minute questions, please let me know - I will check email and PMs as I can over the next 24 hours.

Really excited about this now.  Much fun will ensue.

Cheers!

Okay, we are into the home stretch.

Current head count looks like about 12 or 13, possibly more if Captain Harlock can make it... we don't have positive confirmation on that, here's hoping; if the Maestro wishes to take the baton at the grill, I will yield willingly.

The address is buried in an earlier posting - not encrypted, but enough to fool a spambot, I hope.  Anybody else that needs it, or my cell number, please PM/Email.

Reminder, again - tomorrow will be one of the few "summer" days we have had.  High near 90, humidity near 110%; chance of thunderstorms.  We have a good strong A/C, so other than the Grillmeister we can all be indoors.  But dress for the weather, we all know how "steamy" it can get.  Sorry about the pun.

As mentioned before, there will be hors d'oeuvres, cheese, chips and dips, Jaffa cakes and other cookie-things; we will have lemonade, iced tea, apple juice, and some few sodas, some of the World's Best Macaroni Salad, a mixed green salad with tomatoes and cucumber, and home-made banana pudding.   Grills will light off at around noon at latest estimate.

See you all tomorrow!

Cheers!

We should have enough chairs, but if you have a favorite, you could bring it.  Can't believe it is almost here!

We will have coffee and baked goodies for those who get here early - please, not before 10, though! - and things will roll on from there.

Cheers!

We are so sorry you couldn't make it.  It was a smaller gathering than expected, for sure.

Tons of food left over; and I need to figure out how to get Dr. Sypher's blaster sling back to him.  Oh, and the platter that the Camerae Obscurae left behind...  Did anybody get any pictures?

A Grand Time was had by all - though I spent a little too much time out on the grill.  After the burnt offerings were consumed, though, Markf wowed us all with his final draft of the Steampunk Cubicle.  Very nice; almost made me regret that I no longer work in one!  After that, we were on the cutting edge of forensic historical photographic science.  I won't steal the thunder on THAT story, though - coincidence and lucky finds are just a start for this one; and it ends up with publishing in a very highly respected scientific journal.

So... now it is time to start planning for the NEXT outing of... The Upper Chesapeake Steam Defense League!  Have we got a flag yet?  Need to look into that.

Cheers!

Captain, Thanks for hosting the steampunknic! We really enjoyed the day. As for the unattractive orange/yellow tray I left behind... just ditch it if you can't think of anyway to steampunk it. ;-)

Well, you are most welcome.  We had so much fun, and despite the obstacles, I can say that it was a success.

Georgia - how is the little 'un?  I know tykes are subject to the occasional bout of that sort of thing, so it probably wasn't serious, but we do worry.  And how are you?  One night like that can knock you down to the point where you might catch something too.  I don't have the same experience - so far as I know, I never had any kids - but I know that what seems like routine to a non-parent can be major drama to those involved.

Thanks to all who came - I am hoping we can do something again in two or three months.  This is getting addictive!

Cheers

Hey Cap,
The little one is fine now, she came around about noon on Sunday. Last night I was pouring a glass of milk and found that it was off... not sour but it had an odd taste, so it was probably the culprit... Georgia is fine, but as you guess... tired... I am too but still had to drag my butt to work...

I'm answering in Georgia's place due to our home connection has been very hit-n-miss for the last week... she will probably type a response but lose it as she hits send... this has happened too many times to complain about...

I am glad to hear a good time was had and look forward to the next meeting...

Maryanna and I had a wonderful time, and we're definitely looking forward to the next gathering.
as for that sling, I knew I was going to forget something. however, as i'm about 2 blocks over from the good captain, I could probably make the journey over there at some point. just let me know when's a good time to get it, and i'll head over.

anyone got any ideas where we could have it at?

I put in my vote for us to invade rennfaire. Faire runs from Aug 29th - Oct 25th. I know we will not be available the weekends of Sept 19 and 26 and again on the weekend of Oct 10th but any other time that is probably where we will be heading anyway.

I'm glad fun was had by those who attended and thank you Captain for asking how we were doing.

Great idea!

We will probably get season passes again.  We will be gone the last weekend in August and the first in September, but other than that, probably available.

Sounds like a lot of fun; getting together there could be grand... the theme could be Time Travellers hiding steam gear under medievalish garb.

What a grand idea!

Cheers

We are talking about the MD Renn Fair...

But Georgia and I have booked a  campsite close to the PA Fair for 1 weekend this year. I'm sure she will post a date  so that maybe we could meet ...
