Anyone can join at anytime, just depends on how much time you need to make a creation. Plus there will be more challenges in the future!

Hm. This sounds like an interesting endeavor. Count me in. Whether or not I actually complete anything however, depends on how motivate I end up being.

I am well on my way, and managed to steal a crucial piece. I'm making a steamy desklamp.

Dang.... this is FUN........

I got most of the metalwork finished this evening, and blocked out the wood part...But then it got too dark to continue. I still have to do the final polish on everything, but I will leave that until the last step....

So far, I've used 7 items from the list, with another 3 that I know I'm going to use... and I have to keep my eyes pealed for a few more parts....(either 6 found outside, or 2 from a toy store...)(Most of what I still need I have to find outside... but it's common enough stuff.... But, I'm going to try to use all 18 items on the list....

Too bad it got dark (and I don't have a light outside... well I could fix that, but..... )

Anyway.... This is sooooo much fun.....

Blarg, this IS fun, but I'm struggling... I've got the one stolen, one from a friend (given) I'm getting some from the hardware store, one from a toy store, and I've got one from outdoors. Unfortunately I've run out of things that are needed. I'm making a belt, just so you people know. I've got some stainless (stolen) I've got leather, given to me by my friend, I'm getting some gears for eyelets on the belt (hardware store), I'm getting a clock to take the back off of, and I've got a backplate for mounting the clock to the belt. (outdoors)... I've run out of places to stick things...

Well.... other than spilling mouthwash all over my lap (now it's nice and "minty"  Shocked ) and it's taking longer to get to wood part to fit as tight as I want it.... I got quite a lot done this evening before it got dark....

I figure that I'm more than half way done,....I still have to find a few more parts, but I'm really happy with how it's coming along....

And I will be able to use ALL of the items listed to make it..... (8 items found outside, 3 items from the Hardware store....)

I am done.

I didn't use many items and it is a very modest affair so you will have to cut a newcomer a little slack

As we have been given permission I am going to bite the bullet and post first:
His name is Henry and he is very fond of an early morning dip. I felt he ought not to be entirely without function so he has become a sign pour encourager les autres

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

His constituent parts are as follows:

Found oudoors:
1. Main body - driftwood from beach
2. Nose         - ditto
3. Hair          - rope found in skip
4. Sign          - MDF found in skip
5. Moustache  - window latch found sticking up out of the mud in a back alley (strange but true)

From hardware store
6. 1 packet of eyelet screws
7. brass picture wire

From toyshop:
8. plastic arms (from doll)

From cafe
9. cocktail stick (you can't see it but it's what I tied the hair to)

From friend's house
10. Acrylic paint

I still have to find two more objects and then I will have used all the items on the list....

I figgure I should be almost done with it by this weekend, then after the final polishing, I can post pictures and the list of everything that was used..

Thank you Tinkermann - I confess I am not mechanically minded so this was the steamiest thing I could come up with. I look forward to seeing more technically biased entries.

Brilliant! Of course it's good enough, the whole point of the challenge is to have fun and create something unique. It seems you managed to fulfil both criteria.

I may not be able to meet the criteria. I am deeply apologetic. I had fun though, but how much can you really use on a belt? Really?

Thats beautiful k9 - I particularly like the form surrounding the blue (glass?) and the glass itself.

I also like the close up photo of the raw bits and bobs - could I use it as the basis for a piece of my own work sometime ?

Rats... a minor set-back.... one of the parts, just doesn't look quite right.... So I have to find something else that will work better..... Hey... I'm so close to finishing it, that it isn't that much of a problem....

And I'm still scouting for one common part.... that will tie everything together so nicely.....(the other part is real easy to find...)

But I guess I don't get to sleep in late tomorrow.... (well I have to drive to Sonora. so there goes 3 to 4 hours...) and then I can work on it some more....(and I have Monday and Tuesday nights free...)

So everything should be done in time.....

Quick questions:

-do things found outside which are identical(soda cans in this case) count as one item?
-are pipe clamps considered "tools" or an item?
