Alas, the fates did conspire to me not arriving: the events involved an unscheduled trip to Northern Ireland, a man on a penny farthing, and a suspected case of appendicitis in a close relative, which is still an ongoing situation...

*Grumbles* missed yesterday as I have been without internet (due to traveling and dubious home computers) for horribly long so was completely unaware of the plans, and today I am horribly hungover curled up in bed Sad Still have a splendid time those of you who are present today Wink

Sunday trip
The pumping station was amazing, Sir Arthur and me met with engineer, so slight improvement on the attenedence, you all missed an awesome day out

I totally concur with JennyWren. The pumping station is amazing. The think that amazed us wa how quiet the engne was - just the occasional clacking or hiss of steam and the huge beam moved effortlessly. Visually, the whole scale of the engine was amazing, especially bearing in mind that this was one if four engines in the engine house (the other three haveing been left to rot). Also, the incredible painted wrought iron used as decoration if the engine hall.

I think the visit was summed-up by the glazed look on Jenny's eyes as she watched and listened to the engine moving.

Jenny and Sir Athur, it was a pleasutre meeting you both.

I am very jealous now, I wish I could have come along, but I had a ton of work hours I could not pass up on thrust upon me.
