One thing I tend to do, especially when I am more dressed up is granted more of a medieval sort of solution but I make my reticules on a long cord that can be tied around my waist so I can have the pretty ornate thing and still have my hands free. If I want to wear it on my wrist I can tuck the long cords inside it just fine. You can what I mean here: http://threethirteen.net/x/wedding/IMG_9330.JPG <---- big ass pictuure. Very practical, I have done the same thing in the past. By the way, you look most fetching.

Bit late, but... Hate the stuff. I can't stand sweet things. Euch.
Also tea. Can't drink tea. Vile brown fluid. I find it bitter, with neither great body nor considerable substabce.

May I join you ladies?
I've been occupied a great deal recently but would like to sit and enjoy tea and pleasant conversation with other ladies.

I'd love one dear!
May I propose a new topic for conversation? How does one style ones make up when in all their steampunk finery?
I, as a mesmerist, tend to go for a slightly consumptive/mercury posioned looked, much red eyeshaow, blended with black for that sick/sunken eye look, teamed with a dark burgundy lipstick. However, when I am wearing more feminine attire, for example, a lace day dress, or bloomers and a corset, I don't think the mesmerist make up fits!
So how do you wear your cosmetics?

As a lady, and a more mature one, I wear a little less for day outings and more for evenings for dramatic effect.

VioletRose thank you for the offer of the crumpet - it being breakfast time here I would be much obliged. And Lady Elsie if the offer of the gin is still open I could do with a morning pick me up (hic) excuse me.
Aspen I agree with you about the makeup since i'm a lady of mature years but on special occasions I do add some emphasis to the eyes, I find that young men pay closer attention as a result. Friends have suggested that the attention is focussed on one's poitrine, amply displayed as it generally is. I could not possibly comment.
Wishing you all a pleasant day

I have my own dress style so no need to match steampunk finery as such - however my personal preference is for purple nail lacquer, smoky/purple eyeshadow, purple eyeliner (are you seeing a trend here ?) and mascara. I try to keep my skin pale and interesting but as I am outdoors a lot I do regrettably acquire a light tan in the summer on the bits that show (face, upper chest/back and hands). Sadly I have never found a purple lipstick that suits - dried blood is not a fetching look on the older lady - but as I do not go for lippy much it is of little consequence
