Greetings Squire -- We missed you at the show.

The Baron has posted a several photos on the new Texas Steampunks website on Ning and I've pulled a couple for a photo album there:  http://texassteampunks.ning.com/photo

The show by ArcAttack was EXCELLENT!   The online videos I've seen prior were impressive but NOTHING like being there in real time!

My apologies for my absence at the Arcattack concert.  I'm sorry to have missed my fellow steampunkers.  Apparently I had an interesting encounter with hypoglycemia this Wednesday, although to be perfectly honest I don't remember much from it (except that I'm missing a bit from my front tooth!).  Life is interesting...I've been self absorbed as of late.  I'm sure to go to Epoch, but if I can't make it to Epoch I'll tell you in advance...

Unfortunately, I have been sick for the last 2 days and will not be able to join ya'll tonight. I would like to see if we can arrange a crafting/tinkering get together sometime soon(as it starts to warm up). We can talk about this at the next meet. See you in 2 weeks or so!

ONE THOUSAND APOLOGIES!

Again, I have missed the meeting.  I had some issues with my family today, and by the time I was done, it was about 9:00 O'clock.  In any case I didn't get a chance to show you the production version of the Wilhelm-Finnegan, which now comes with Bluetooth! (see this thread: http://brassgoggles.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,21672.0.html)

Another good meetup with seven folks in attendance, including The Squire as our newbie of the week.

The discussions continue on a group name and on photo op venues.

The 'Steampunk Stroll' was suggested as a possible way to go for photo ops and get togethers: the concept being for a bunch of folks in gear to show up at local events and simply wander with the crowds. The Old Pecan Street Festival and First Thursday on SoCo were mentioned as possibilities.

I worked up a prototype of the badge/pin that Rene suggested previously. You can see it at

http://texassteampunks.ning.com/forum/topics/austin-group-name

along with a CAD print of a version designed for electro-etching.

I've recently become interested in Steampunk, so I'm excited to find an already flourishing community here in Austin.  Hope to get to know you all soon!

 Your not alone.

I won't be present myself till around 7:00-8:00 myself for work reasons. However Professor Folderol has never been late for a meeting so anyone showing up at six shouldn't have to worry any about being left with that "lonely" feeling.  Wink

...Professor Folderol has never been late for a meeting ...

That somehow sounds so damning!   Totally OCD (CDO in proper order!)

Just look for a brown fedora and brass goggles.  That will be me.

Welcome to the group Ms. Bowlwoman!   Looking forward to making your acquaintance.

I just got an invitation to a computer club in Austin from someone who saw my ad at Kneaded Pleasures.  They are suggesting I make a "presentation" on my "business plan" this next Tuesday (2nd. of March).  Problem is I really have no "business plan"  Roll Eyes  I guess the best I could do is expose the tech side of Steampunk and show my wares.  Anyone feel like making a presentation on Steampunk with me?

J. Wilhelm

P.S.  JJ, I think you're confusing it with dyslexia!

 That's Lysdexia! *sheesh*  Roll Eyes

What time on tuesday? It would probably be a tight squeez for me as I don't get off work till after 6:30 P.M.  Tongue
However if it is in the evening I would make the good effort.

I'm still not sure if its going to happen this Tuesday due to my job interviews (Tuesday seems awfully rushed to me if they expect a  scheduled "formal" presentation).  I'm trying to meet with the guy or at least talk to him to see what they mean. This is his E-mail:

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

So their meetings  take place at 6:30 and the presentation is at 7:00.

That exhibits the primary physical characteristic of a vacuum -- it sucks!

I hope everyone involved was uninjured?

Just got back from Houston and I see B.G. is finally back up.
ACK!  Shocked Sorry to hear about your accident! I hope no one was injured. How serious was the damage to your vehicle? You seem to be having a heck of a time just getting to the meetings, do you think someone is trying to tell you something?

Sorry to hear about your accident, Professor.

Sorry, if the site had been up I would have posted this a LOT sooner:

If anybody is at loose ends today, in the lil' town of Washington, or rather, in Washington-on-the-Brazos State Park, they are having their yearly Texas Birthday Celebration (yep, even with the cold weather and all), and my bunch of insane people who like to dress up in period/runaway scrape/Texas Army garb and play rain or shine, indoors or out, hot weather or cold er, *ahem* friends and neighbors who play oldtime music, namely the North Harris County Dulcimer Society, will be just one of the many weather-proof maniacs groups performing for the pleasure and edification and elucidation of all attendees. If we are lucky, we will be performing indoors; if not, out on the conference center's lawn.

I'm planning to wear my top hat and my nickel-plated Willsons' brazing goggles -- and period clothing as well, of course, including the alpaca poncho (lol & shivver- thank heavens for heat packs! Cheesy Shocked).
