So... did everyone have fun? Who all was there? Are we staring to have a party not just a small table? This inquiring mind wants to know.

Can't wait till tomorrow so i can see everyone. Hope to see a few new people as well. With the weather warming up i think now would be a good time to start thinking about how we need to get together on a weekend and do a walk-about. What do you guys think? See you my friends tomorrow

The Wednesday meetup was attended by five folks (the usual suspects!) and I think an enjoyable evening was had by all.
Discussion continues (in the usual wandering and haphazard manner) as to planning a Steampunk Stroll for a weekend or evening.
First Thursday on SoCo is a possibility as the weather warms and the days wax longer, as well as a Stroll some Saturday afternoon followed by a visit to the Green Muse for coffee afterward.
Lacking advice to the contrary I've set the calendar with the next meeting on the 24th and a couple of more meetings a fortnight apart.

Reh? On their Myspace it says it's a done deal. I'm hoping so, as they're my favorite band and I'd love to make this my second concert! Also, I've been talking to them on FB about designing some goodies for them, and it would be so completely awesome to hand it to them in person instead of fretting about it getting to them via mail!

If your not from Texas, your gonna be suprised just how far away everything is from here. Not to worry, you'll have plenty to do and we're all pretty friendly here abouts. Austin is an excelent location for steampunks. Arvis

Nope, I'm not from TX, but I'm going to live with a Burner friend of mine who assured me that this was THE place for Burners and the like, and I've heard tons of great stuff about it... I do know how everything in TX is spread out, but thankfully my friend likes taking all sorts of trips all over, and he does photography as well, so I'm sure I can "drag" him to see AP...

Does anyone have the time or inclination to go to South By Southwest? I'm going to try tomorrow saturday, and visit my old watering holes... (B. D. Riley's, The Elephant Room, Copa, etc.). I will try to go during daylight, as I'd prefer to park far away and walk, due to street closings and overcrowding.

Hello! I hope I'm not going to crash a party by introducing myself suddenly. I haven't actually been into steampunk fashion for very long; I'm a lolita who reads a lot of steampunk and steampunk-inspired lit, and I've become fascinated with trying to combine those interests. It seems like y'all have regular meetings, which is fantastic! I hope I can go to one at some point, but I actually live a ways away from Austin (it's still the closest city though) so I don't know when I'll be able to

Dear Ms. Deadtree
Welcome to the group Ms. Deadtree. We are a very loose-knit group, more like trying to herd cats, as JJ Folderol would say (by the way he is the more regularly-attending member). We have not had much activity outside of bi-weekly meetings at a local cafe and usually not all of us attend very regularly.
As the weather warms up, costumed outings may happen, ( not me, so far I'm a "maker" not a "dresser"). This August were are contemplating going to Armadillocon in downtown Austin (as I'm beginning to attract some attention with my machines). I'd give you the web URL's of our local blogs, but I'm typing away on my iPod (JJ Folderol may be able to give you those as soon as he sees this posting) and in any case this is usually the most-used and most current blog.
Your humble servant, J. Wilhelm

Greetings! We have a meetup every couple of weeks at the Epoch Coffee Shop here in Austin and the next two are scheduled for 24Mar10 and 07Apr10 for 6:00 pm 'til usually around 10 pm. Check the calendar at http://texassteampunks.ning.com/ for dates and such. Costuming is optional but I'll be the guy wearing brass goggles on my hat. Any questions, either post them here or send me an e-mail. JJ

(Rather bitter outside today...) I'm quite interested in steampunk literature, but haven't dug into it enough (or been lucky enough) to find much that holds my interest. There are a few serials I've been following, but a couple more would be nice. Could I perhaps prevail upon you to put together a list and post it on http://texassteampunks.ning.com/ ? There's plenty of space in the "Arts, Letters & Inspiration" area and it would start building a resource for all of us. Thanks! JJ

Ooh, I can't wait to get there! Looks like you have a ton of fun out there... If AP gets the Austin gig, I daresay that would be great meetup. We should go out to a pre-concert lunch or the like!

Agreed! Let's plan for it...tentatively...a few hours before the Abney Park contest...whenever it is... Well I guess it's all tentative then!

Well we have one this Wednesday and then the next should be in 2 weeks...April 7th I think. I'll have to check on that. We look forward to seeing you.
Someone asked about books a short time ago... well I have some news, Nick Valentino, the author of Thomas Riley is interested in being at Armadillocon. He is sending them an email about it. I'm thinking that maybe we need to get a email campaign going. Does anyone know someone involved in the planning? Do you know someone that has the ear of a planner? Lets get an email to send support for Nick to and get an up and coming steampunk author to our con! If you haven't read Thomas Riley, it's a good book. It's aimed at the young adult crowd, but is an enjoyable read for any age. With airships, alchemy, goggles, you just find yourself loving it!
