Great of all the damn things to go wrong today. My car went and died to day and i can't find what the problem is. Angry Angry Angry Angry I was going to bring my buddy paul  for the first time. If i can find a way up there i will. Any help would be great.  Undecided

if you need to take to a shop, I recommend nor-tek (just north of e. rundberg on the southbound side of 35). they're the only mechanic shop in austin I trusted (and 1 of only 4 mechanic places/people I've ever trusted in 26 years of driving).

And I have gotten the same..with a strong lean towards definate and less towards maybe...and she might join me this time as well.

Oh and Abi, just to let you know, Arvis is the only one fully steamed for the meetings I've been to, though others(including me) are working on it.

I'll be there... provided there are no mishaps with the laser I picked up today....

I certainly can't get into as much trouble with a laser as I did with either the magnetic accelerator or the mercury plasma gun!   Grin

Ladies and Gentlemen:

Epoch this Wednesday? I'll try to be there, but as this last Wednesday I may be late by 1-2 hrs.  (I'm the "Chef" at my apartment; otherwise my grandfather will only eat cereal !  He's at that age of "role reversal").

 Good morning Baron.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

And the plan is to meet there between 6 & 10p.m. in order to discuss all things steampunk. All steampunks are welcome costumed or not. We typically hold these meetings every two weeks and we just held one this past Wednesday but it looks like we are up for another meeting since we'll have some new faces! It would probably be a good opportunity to discuss alternative meeting times.
Anywhoo, I'll be there about 6:00p.m.

Has anyone ventured to East Side Show Room yet?  Word is they have quite a steam/diesel-inspired aesthetic(though a few negative reviews on Yelp), if their wait staff thing gets sussed out it might be a good place to go for  dinner/cocktails eventually.

Good interior shots and a nice review here:

I've heard of it, and want to go out to it, but I haven't yet. Maybe we could do one of these meets there some weekend.

Alas, I shall not be in attendance tonight. I've become a veritable bastion of the plague, and would feel something terrible were I to get anyone sick. I hope everyone has a good time tonight, and eventually the world will see fit to allow me time to socialize with you all.

And I will be missing as well, a friend I have not had the pleasure of seeing in many years has made a surprise visit and I will be entertaining, we may make it out to Epoch for a few minutes, but I would not count on it.

Well there is one north of Austin...I think it's Bertram. There is a great old Rail Station up there. It really depends on if you are looking for Post Apoc or Victorian though.

That's adorable.

I'm putting it on our list. Bertram is awefully far and I do want to milk the existence of a steampunk forum to its fullest. Any other ideas?

There are quite a few places actually, your only limited by your imagination and how far you are willing to travel. What is your range of distance?
I posted this a while back.

As far as in town, there is the U.T. campus museum. The botanical gardens at Zilker park, a few of the moonlight towers have victorian style houses near by at some locations. The Driskill hotel, the state capitol building and those are just the ones from the top of my head. I'm sure if we look hard enough we can find many more locations for any number of  photo shoots.

Whilst I'm at it, last nights spur of the moment meeting was another success. Though some who were coming had to give the meeting a miss due to unforeseeable circumstances,(you presence was dearly missed but well understood) we had met with yet another new face in our growing local steampunk community.
A grand welcome if you will to our new friend Mr. Lorne Duryea.  Cheesy
He had been trying to meet with us for the past few meetings but some how or another he had missed us up until last night. I only hope we haven't scared him away now! Lips sealed
