Here's the map, post your locations(generally) and post locations of Steampunk stuff. I'm going to try to get Big Top and such posted soon.

I just added a big stack, including Big Top and the Museum of the Weird.

 Good night nurse!
I had a hell of a time last night. (I kept poor Professor Folderol till 10:00 P.M.)
I just couldn't get over his work! His knowledge is extensive and he seems to be our local "go-to guy" for matters on science of both physical and chemical in nature.

Captain Deadfield, I'm glad your house is still in tact, you were missed after you and your lady had to leave in such a rush. As was anyone who wanted to be present and was unable to make last nights meeting.
The 28Th works for me as far as I can tell, Kickbutt was excellent at far as this initial meet up however I found the live entertainment a bit loud and distracting as well as being so close to the busy traffic of airport. I live in South East Austin, but seeing as we have folks who live out in the way of Leander I have no problem traveling to a location in north Austin. A car pool may be in order for the day in question. So long as my "smarter half" and cogling Do not choose to attend I can carry 2-3 comfortably with ample cargo space. I can probably pick up most anyone with in the city limits or anyone with in the Del Valley area. (sorry Buda is a bit too much of a stretch)
Planks sounds interesting and easy to find. Epoch coffee house is another good place to meet with the exception of it's location.(not the easiest place to find) One way to find it is coming south on Lamar from hw 183 turn left on north loop and three to five blocks later it's on your right. It's a bit off the beaten path but much quieter than "KB". They have a large porch for smokers, some food... and the bathrooms are to die for. Me and a friend bout got kicked out of Star Seeds once. (but that's another story)

Add em to the map and let's figure out. I didn't expect the live entertainment, sorry about that.

I have a minion of my own that would love to attend when we do make it. He gets very excited about these things. Smiley
Wednesdays are a beast for me as I have night classes. Definitely don't plan around us, though. We tend to be a bit overbooked.

Added.
It took me a bit to get the hang of it, too.

I'd love to make one of the meetups at some point.  Please make sure to crosspost to seaholm_steam as well.

Also, Is anyone going to the Tour de Fat this Saturday?  There should be some really nice bikes and entertainment:

Sounds great fun.  I have a pretty long meeting that afternoon, but if I can free up some time, I will head that way with the kids.

Last evening was the first time I've met some other Steamfolk and it was really quite nice to be able to chat about things that interest me without being branded as a whack-job with a reality deficit.

It was also quite nice to learn that the other folks are (probably) not psycho-killer mutants from outer space, so next time I can leave the heavier armaments and explosives home.

I'd really intended to gear up for the event.  Unfortunately after dressing I took a critical look in the mirror and decided that I appeared more of a flabby Indiana Jones knock-off than an engineer from the Zeppelin works.  Most disappointing.  I think it would have worked better with suspenders... (no time for heavy dieting.)

I did like the Kick Butt place though.  The coffe was good and the young lady behind the bar was actually intelligent, good humored and honored my 'not-too-hot' latte request -- a rather different experience from the usual Starbucks visit with it's attendant oral cautery.  (Does Starbucks have a rule that injuring the patrons is mandatory?)

As to the next meetup, I'm quite flexible as to when and where.

It is completely out of it's mind, I agree. Took me ages to figure it out.
I found that if you refresh the page after saving anything, it will tell you what is really on it's mind.
I am just starting to be a fair hand at it, so let me know if you finally give up and want me to add anything.

Not sure if any of you are haunters or haunt fans, but Scare for a Cure is putting on a vampire themed haunted house with a little steampunk to it(not sure the amount) at Richard Garriot's Brittania Manor. Here's the site. scareforacure.org  I hope ya'll make it out..and hey, it's for a good cause.

Due to conflicts, I will not be participating in this haunt, but I still encourage you to attend.

Unfortunately the only festivities I'll be participating in will be work. (at least I get to dress up)
And I'll be at work until midnight thirty. After which a friend of mine is hosting an all night horrorfest showing movies that do NOT include names such as "Freddy, Jason and Michael".  Tongue So I'll probably be there till the cock crows.

Are we still meeting up on the 28th? If so have we settled on a location? I'm flexable and can attend any location and for anyone with in Austin city limits, my carpooling services are still an option.

Meetup -- any time, any place as long as there's coffeeSmiley

Also, if someone can come up with a very tolerant location, I'd be happy to teach soldering, metalworking, etc. as was requested at the last meetup.

I learned NASA spec soldering first, taught MIL spec and have done a lot of copper plumbing so I'm pretty good in those areas.  I've also built a bunch of electronic prototypes in engineering departments so I know a bit about properties of materials, fasteners (brass/copper rivets, screws, so on), hand tool selection and use, etc.

I'm waiting for recommendation of a different place, but unless we get one, I'm still happy with Kick Butt Coffee. Please give input if we want to do this elsewhere.
