I haven't been on a plane in a year. My passport is in a drawer under an old magazine... I have hardly looked at international currency exchange rates in a long time. I don't need an Indiana Jones adventure; I don't need a luxury hotel, either. Just to go somewhere I have never been before, where they don't speak my native tongue (the local McDonald's doesn't count).
I wish I was a more graceful traveler, as well. I don't know how my father did it, but when he travelled he always looked his best; he usually wore a white shirt, a blue blazer, and khakis. Usually unruffled, he would take things in stride when trouble hit - lost luggage, missed connections - and never cursed, nor let his anger show. I try to take things in stride, but somehow I am always rushing at the last minute, and I am usually wearing a coat of sweat by the time I get on the plane or the train.
Tomorrow is supposed to be nice, at last. Maybe I will make it out to a park, at least.
