If you're looking for something a little closer than Philly for State Sollege, Pittsburgh has a Steampunk guild that does something every month, sometimes more often. This month it's a Photoshoot and Art show on Saturday April 30th at the Phipps Conservatory.

In all reality, "steampunk" is anachronistic, innit? Otherwise it's just Victorian dress-up.

chain smokin', sleep needin', apparel designin', mohawk havin', tea drinkin', steady cursin', boy charmin', card readin' rabble-rouser and amusement park cleverly disguised as a woman

Steampunk World's Fair is a little over a month away!!

ZO! For those of us headed south after the fun and festivities, Ryu and I are putting together a little side jaunt.

We found a great little place in Philly called The Franklin Fountain.
It's fantastic! The time we went we shared a massive and scrumptious sundae called, appropriately, the Franklin Mint. Smiley

Any one who'd like to join us is welcome!

The only issue being we will most likely leave at an early enough hour from the event to make it there around noon/one o'clock, so you hard partiers may miss out.

This is cross posted from the SPWF thread. Even if you're not going to the Fair, all are welcome!
I mean, it's ice cream! Cheesy

And for those of you in the Philly area :

Come and join us for our SECOND Annual Gala of fun, music, and potential larceny, The Airship Pirates' Ball, Oct 26, 2012. There will be food, an art and accoutrement auction, a cash bar, vendors, a Steampunk fashion contest with prizes, music, dance, a promenade of Phoenixville, and, of course, the Bimini Ring Game. All proceeds go to benefit Grindlebone Arts and Greylight Theatre in their work to further performing arts, artists, and to assist Greylight's work with autistic children and young adults.

Yes, there is Guiness.  We knew you'd ask.

Our first year event was an absolute hoot, with some great costuming and prizes.  Come and help make our second event even better!

About Molly Maguire's
Molly Maguire's is one of the most best authentic Irish Pubs in the Philadelphia area, and features a cool location, great ambiance, a menu replete with Irish traditional dishes, a full bar and a fantastic craft beer selection.  It's one of our favorite spots.  We suspect it will be one of yours as well.

The Details:
Appropriate garb strongly urged.
Tickets $5 at the door.  Or you can go to http://grindlebone.org/pb/wp_6e92c5e2/wp_6e92c5e2.html, click on the "join" button at the bottom, shell out a $5 membership fee to the League, and enjoy entrance to all our events for free!

Vendors should arrive 1 hour prior to the event.

Promenade is at 9PM, with the costume contest shortly thereafter.

No one under 18 admitted without appropriate parent or adult guardian, said guardian assuming all responsibility for said minor.

Got something cool you'd like to donate to the auction?  We'd love to have it!!

So fire up that boiler, dust off the monacle, and come see and be seen!!

info at Grindlbone.org!
