attn messrs Scarper and Pratt;

per one mr. cornelius troutman, photographic antiquarian:
Quote
I found a pair of sunglasses I think belong to Beverly of Scarper and Pratt. That is their business card but it has no contact information on it at all.
If you have anyway of getting a message to them that would be grand. They said they have been steampunk for 15 years so this is my only link to getting their glasses back to them.
I checked the names of members on the facebook page but nothing seemed to come to light.

please direct your attention to the aethercoordinate communication link above to reach mr. troutman and retrieve your ocular paraphernalia.

here is the chromographicall image gallery from that event for your perusal.

enjoy!

{crossposted many places; if you happen to see this more than once, well, je m'abaisse, i'm sure}

Greetings, O rangers of the Colorado Territory, Queen City of the plains, and Weird-West-at-Large!

In honor of Obscura Day, the Greater Colorado Steampunks group, the Colorado Chrononauts’ League, [possibly] some members of Wings of Steam [if we can convince them], crew of the Morrighan, some members of TESLA, and others will be celebrating by taking a jaunt to our Southern neighbors the Springs.

SEE our dedicated event page HERE:
http://colorado-steampunks.eventbrite.com/

First, we shall explore a ghost town and Wild Wild West Museum:
http://www.ghosttownmuseum.com/
Admission for our large group will be $5.50/ea (Children under 16 will
be $4). We shall meet here at the gates at 9am, and wander this great
delight until 2PM.

At which time, we shall retire to the Glen Eyrie Castle for Afternoon
Tea! Participation in this fine event shall be $16 (including tax and
gratuity). You can see their site at http://www.gleneyrie.org/us/ministries/gleneyrie/castle/teastours
PLEASE RSVP FOR THIS EVENT
because we will need a headcount, if we reach over 26 we must make
reservations! The tea starts promptly at 2:30 so we shall edge that
direction post haste.

Afterward, we may wander the castle grounds indulging in steamy photos and recordings of our explorations.

Finally, if the energy takes us, we shall wander at last to the
beautiful Garden of the Gods, to witness the sun setting over the rocks
and indulge in Tourist Trapping.

DO note carpooling should be available for this event, as several of us
going certainly have room for one or two more at minimum.

do join us!

Hello all!

I wanted to extend an invitation for all of you out there, and to spread the awareness (for those not wandering other social networks) about the newest Steampunk grand event rolling into town.

It is AnomalyCon: An Alternate History, Science Fiction, and Steampunk convention. And it is coming to Denver in March of 2011.

It has been nearly two years in the making, and we are looking forward to such events as a masquerade tea ball, a weekend-long unveiling of a new Steampunk LARP, a movie room with many old and new favorites, aesthetic and functional art competitions, a Victorian self-defense class, and many wonderful merchants of brilliant gems and discoveries from times past and future. We also hope to bring in several live bands and performers. It promises to be an event to remember--and at a very affordable ticket price.

You can find the event here:

http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=137551882940899

You can also find the logo competition for the convention here:

http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=144040162273461

The logo competition includes fabulous prizes (such as admission to the con, a T-shirt with the logo and a free 250-word bio with photo), and admissions are due by August 31.

Thought I'd post here just so everybody in the area gets notified...

Not sure if anybody else has heard about this, but I was just listening to NPR and they announced this:

Quote
Running Steam Engines, Victorian Inspired Art Show and Sale, Visit Historic Bingham Hill Cemetery, with recitations of Poe, Steampunk Vendors and Food, Elucidation of the Etiquette of High Tea and Many More Attractions to Amaze and Amuse! Victorianesque/Steampunk Attire Encouraged, but Not Required.

$5 Admission includes bus ride to Bingham Hill Cemetery at 2 p.m. and/or 7 p.m. and a ballot to decide the winning artists!

Might be a bit of a drive for some (about an hour for me), but it would be cool to see a nice turnout!

Besides yourself and myself, unlikely. Although i did put it on the Chrononauts' League event calendar. it sounded like a rather slapdash event, to me, to be frank.

Might be a bit of a drive for some (about an hour for me), but it would be cool to see a nice turnout!

also unlikely, since they didn't bother to let anyone know about it other than via these sporadic segments - even the Victorian Society CS hasn't mentioned it, and they're usually on top of these events like a fat kid on a cupcake - and since there's another and more hyped event going on at the same time halfway across the state.

however, if you do go, and they end up wanting to do something like this again, pass my information to them. i will see that they *get* in touch with the right people to get some amount of promo.

At the twilight of the Victorian age, a new medical device is developed to calm women diagnosed with “hysteria.” As Dr. Givings pioneers this intimate new therapy, his young wife becomes determined to investigate the experiments that have patients leaving the procedure room with a rosy glow. Ruhl’s stylish comedy pulses and hums along as it dispels old-fashioned notions of female sexuality, intimacy and marriage at the dawn of the age of electricity.

This is in Colorado Springs, starting the 2nd, and runs through the 19th.
