It occurs to me that this May will mark 110 years since Tesla's arrival in Colorado Springs.
Perhaps something can be done to mark that.

Exactly...
Anyone know if there is anything worth seeing at his old Pike's Peak site?
I'd been meaning to look into it for some time.

Apparently there is a "Tesla Museum Of Science", but all I can find is an address and phone number, at the moment.

i think that's closed. at least, it's listed as "gone but not forgotten" on RoadsideAmerica.

Pity...

Well, certainly Pike's Peak is still there.

Well, certainly Pike's Peak is still there.

we could make a pilgrimage to the lab site, certainly, after the possibility of a frozen-over Monument Hill is past.

i think that's the only reason i'd have to venture to the Springs anyway. there's hardly anything interesting there.

It's been so long that I've been to the Mayan that I didn't remember them having a bar. Meeting up there and avoiding the whole migrating from one place to another sounds like a good idea to me. Plus, if we meet up there in advance of the show we can make sure to get good seats. :)

trufax. the bar wasn't there until a couple of years ago, so your misguided youth isn't playing tricks on your brain -- at least, not about that. :) i'll probably show up around 7:30 or so.
you know what to look for. :) cheers.

Do you by any chance know if the bar in the Mayan is open to those under 21? I'm planning to attend the movie regardless but would love to meet up with you lovely folks beforehand if possible.

I'd also like to volunteer me and my camera for any photojaunts that may occur or anyone who just wants to go out and do a shoot (I'm a photography student and am always looking to practice and expand my portfolio)

the bar is part of the theater; they won't serve anyone under 21, but it's open to anybody IIRC. please feel free to join us. ;) the more the merrier.

I know I'm just now hopping into this thread, but too bad I will be unable to go.

Surprised to find so many people in Aurora (I live around Chambers/Alameda), I'm noticing a trend on many of the forums I frequent that many cool people live in Aurora lol.

By the by, I realize convention season for Denver is still a few months off, but one of my friends is putting together a steampunk group for NDK, probably Starfest too, and possibly Wasabi.

Well, I will have to miss it.

Would any of the Aurora folk (and anyone else, certainly) be interested in something as simple as dinner and drinks on Friday or Saturday?

I would but, I'm going to be running around the woods hitting people with padded sticks this weekend (I do larp).  Plus depending where you have on mind, I wouldn't be able to get in since I'm 18.

What LARP, if I may ask?

And I would be sure to go somewhere everyone would be welcome.

You misread me :)
Likely my mistake.

I was asking what LARP was being played, not what LARP was.

Oh, my mistake. I see sometimes that people don't always know the acronyms being used in forums and thought that was the case here.

I need to hop over to the Denver Crowd thread and gather the exact particulars of tomorrows plans.

I haven't noticed anyone posting times and such for the show, so here's what I've found out ...

Show starts at 9:00pm at the Mayan Theater, run time is 98 mins., and tickets are $15.00

Sounds like some people may be going as early as 7pm for drinks at the bar at the Mayan.

Edit: Oops. I guess if I had scrolled up a bit more I would have seen that someone had posted some of this.

I may be able to pop in for a drink, but my Thursday will start early so I won't have a whole night to enjoy.

Ah, well.

I play NERO Empire down in Conifer.  Very therapeutic way of blowing off steam without landing yourself in jail, I think.

I think my old roommate was considering Amtgard for a while.  Shoot that reminds me, I still gotta crank out two daggers and finish my vest before Friday!

Anyway, so as not to go even more off topic, I'd be down for just a hanging out somewhere sometime in the next few weeks.
