Burton was a producer along with Timur (NightWatch, DayWatch, Wanted) Bekmambetov and a few others. If it wasn't for them Shane Acker wouldn't have been able to develop 9 from the original animated short:
I liked 9 the movie but I love 9 the short.

Mr. Primate, that short was brilliant! I loved it! I hadn't seen it before. I didn't know it was orignially a short before it was made a movie.
Capt. Dirigible, The I, Frankenstein sounds interesting. Where did you find your information on it? I would like to read more about it.

I am just now watching a movie on HBO - "You're in the Navy Now." 1951. Gary Cooper, John Ireland, Eddie Albert, a young Lee Marvin. About the USS Teakettle, an experimental steam-powered patrol boat in WWII. B&W. Humorous in that 1951 way.

Capt. Dirigible, The I, Frankenstein sounds interesting. Where did you find your information on it? I would like to read more about it. I read about it in the latest edition of Total Film but all the info they gave I passed onto this forum. There's no more info on the film in the mag. There's various info in these links though..the last one is a link to the trailer

Okay...most of the movies I could think of off the top of my head have been suggested and/or added already.... Let's hit a few more anime. What about Vampire Hunter D (and it's sequel Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust). http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0090248/http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0216651/Kind of a mixture of time lines in these movies...but good stuff overall. Plus from Bloodlust, I still want the forearm/crossbow! Awesomeness! Full Metal Alchemist?!? Origin ~Spirits of the Past This one borders onto post apocalyptic themes with future technology..and may be more of a diesel-punk..but good anime anyways... Friend told me about this the other day...online short called "The Anachronism"..havn't watched it yet (kept forgetting about it till till this thread reminded me about it....). http://www.theanachronism.com/home.htmlAbout all I can think of right now...

Hi Everyone! First posting here. How exciting.
How about the short-lived TV series "The Secret Adventures of Jules Verne"? I recently found the complete series on DVD at a *cough* convention.
I apologize if this subject has already been discussed. There's so much to this forum and so few hours in a day to wade through it all.
Looking forward to making new friends here!

Good evening ladies and gentlemen. I too am new to the forum but wanted to suggest "The extraordinary adventures of Adele Blanc-Sec". I've just seen the trailer for it and it looked quite deliciously steampunk. I fear my grasp of French may let me down however but I pray some kind fellow will have subtitled it. As the Baron stated previously my sincere apologies if someone has already suggested this.

I'm sure someone else has mentioned it on here before but I can't find any posts about it! Yesterday I watched 'The Call Of C'thulu' (the HP Lovecraft Historical Society silent production made in 2005 and made to look like it was made in 1925).
Saw it. Really liked it. I just wish they'd spent a bit more on correct 1920s haircuts. Nothing spoils a thing like this easier than 1990s haircuts in a supposedly 1920s film. Speaking of Lovecraft, has anyone seen Dagon? In my view, Call of Cthulhu and Dagon are the best Lovecraft screen interpretations yet made.

REPO! I LOVE Repo! (For those of you who don't know repo its sweeny todd meets Rocky Horror Picture Show.) Personally I don't think Repo is steampunk. I consider it more cyberpunk/goth/industrial/splatterpunk. Even the label cyberpunk is a bit of a stretch. It's a great movie, but i dont think it's really steampunk.

There was a 1980s movie by the name(s) of Gunbus or Sky bandits that definitely has some Steampunk moments if maybe not the greatest special effects.

It seems noone has mentioned "Flåklypa Grand Prix" released as Pinchcliffe Grand Prix in English. It might be set a little later than the victorian era (or a lot later as the case might be, and have a lot of talking humanoid animal characters) but the various crazy inventions of the main character are simply stunning and in my opinion very SP in heart plus his car "Il Tempo Gigante" is awesome and very steampunk(not to mention made in the inventors bicycle repair shop). The entire movie is also very children friendly and, again in my opinion, a very nice way to introduce young ones to the world of SP. (my daughter loved it at an age of three) The following plot synopsis is procured directly from wikipedia but sums it up rather nicely In the town of Flåklypa (En. Pinchcliffe), the inventor Reodor Felgen (En. Theodore Rimspoke) lives with his animal friends Ludvig (En. Lambert) (a nervous, pessimistic and melancholic hedgehog) and Solan (En. Sonny Duckworth) (a cheerful and optimistic magpie). Reodor works as a bicycle repairman, though he spends most of his time inventing weird Rube Goldberg-like contraptions. One day, the trio discover that one of Reodor's former assistants, Rudolf Blodstrupmoen (En. Rudolph Gore-Slimey), has stolen his design for a race car engine and has become a world champion Formula One driver. Solan secures funding from an Arab oil sheik who happens to be vacationing in Flåklypa, and to enter the race, the trio builds a gigantic racing car: Il Tempo Gigante—a fabulous construction with two extremely big engines (weighing 2.8 tons alone and making the seismometer in Bergen show 7.8 Richter when started the first time), a body made out of copper, a spinning radar (that turns out to be useful when Blodstrupmoen starts engaging in smoke warfare during the race) and its own blood bank. Reodor ends up winning despite Blodstrupmoen's attempts at sabotage.

I think I remember watching that many years ago; thought it was rather good but had no idea what it was called in part of the film is a car sabotaged and someone (a dog?) holds the damaged part in place so they can race properly?
