That surprises me greatly. I have studied Forteana since I was old enough to read, and ley lines get mentioned in eveything from literature about Stonehenge to UFO and crop circle accounts. Its a big thing in Britian, try googling something more specific like stone circles, crop circles etc in Britian.

Perhaps you are aproaching you searches or the sites you choose from the wrong angle.  With anything occult or esoteric online, there are metric tons of worthless drivel out there that you have to sort through.  With practice, comparison, and discussion, you will get much better at it.

Not a subject I can claim in-depth knowledge of, but I'm fairly sure I remember something about many old English churches being grouped either around, or on nodes where ley lines meet. In the area where I spent most of my life growing up, there was a group of four churches in the approximate plan of a cross, and a very strong energy (at least, so I perceived it) at all four sites.

Hrmn...don't know any maps...though you might have better luck researching maps of energy vortexes (I live near Sedona and have seen a few maps in that regard).

As far as locating ley lines, I believe that dowsing (usually with a pendulum) is a rather common method.

The Goat Foot God
[ A Review and Summary ]

" Hugh Paston is the wealthy, depressed
heir to a large tea company fortune.

Controlled by his family and lacking any
spine whatsoever, he wanders into an old
bookstore shortly after his wife and her
lover are killed in a car crash. There
he meets the reclusive T. Jelks, a failed
priest who delights in the mental world
while avoiding the physical. Thanks to
Hugh's need for an ear and Jelks' need
for someone to psychoanalyze the two
become fast if improbable friends.

The intrusion of an apparently past life
personality takes Hugh by surprise and
provides the backdrop for the rest of
the story.

Ambrosius, a medieval monk, was walled
up in the cellar of his old priory for
practicing rituals dedicated to the Greek
god Pan in the chapel of his remote priory.

Ambrosius gives Hugh a path to chase down
and in true heroic fashion Hugh jumps in
head first with both feet. Hugh and Jelks
decide it best to draw forth Ambrosius in
an attempt to fulfill his ancient desire.
Hugh, having no lack of money and needing
something useful to do, decides to pursue
Ambrosius in high style.

The need for an interior designer gives
an excuse to introduce Mona Wilton, Jelks'
niece and general "cat on the tiles", a
footloose artistic type in both appearance
and morals. It's a long and interesting
road, but eventually Mona and Hugh get to
the bottom of their frustrated selves to
find fulfillment. Through the invocation
of Pan the missing parts of their souls
are completed and they find completeness. "

Acoustical Resonances of Assorted Ancient Structures
by Robert G. Jahn, Paul Devereux, and Michael Ibison
Journal of the Acoustical Society of America
Volume 99, Issue 2, pages 649-658 (February 1996).

Abstract :

Rudimentary acoustical measurements performed
inside six diverse ancient structures revealed
that each sustained a strong resonance at a
frequency between 95 and 120 Hz, despite major
differences in chamber shapes and sizes.

The resonant modal patterns all featured strong
antinodes at the outer walls, with appropriately
configured nodes and antinodes interspersed
toward the central source.

In some cases, interior and exterior rock drawings
resembled these acoustical patterns.

Since the resonance frequencies are well within the
adult male voice range, one may speculate that some
forms of human chanting, enhanced by the cavity
resonance, were invoked for ritual purposes.

If I may call upon the considerable repository of knowledge here amongst my esteemed colleagues, I seem to to having a bit of an infestation problem as of late. Any of you here have any experience dealing with shadow creatures? I've had a few of the buggers intrude themselves onto my property before; just about had a heart attack. I've recently undertaken several measures includening the employment of certain holy objects and some Native American spirit medicine, and it seems to have kept them away for now. But just in case, any further observations or input? I'm being dead serious here.

What have you done already, specifically, that worked?  I imagine you must have a fair idea of what you are dealing with if you have tried some measures and they were effective.  What do you think is going on- what kind of an infestation is it?

To be honest I have very little idea of what I'm dealing with. I simply experimented with various methods and objects until I found a formula that seemed to work. Cheifly the burning of some sage smudge, as the scent is repulsive to foul spirits according to Native American beliefs, and carrying about a medicine bag containing additional sage, some quartz, and various holy medals I happen to have in possession. So far I have suffered no additional visitations from these beings. They appear as hooded and cloaked spectres, blacker than the darkness around them. They rarely linger for long, but they impart such a primal fear the likes of which I have not experienced otherwise. Incidents like this are partly why I ceased my active research into the occult long ago. I am barely a layman, and do not practice any art, so I am hardly qualified for such things. I don't feel I did anything to let these things in though, as I'm not so foolish as to play with things beyond my means. They had previously invaded my dreams some time ago, but as I learned to overpower them in my mind the assaults stopped. But recently I have awokened several times from sleep to find them beside the bed or couch watching me. Most...disturbing.

PostScript: One thing I have noticed in my experiences with these things is they seem to thrive on fear, almost requiring it to manifest. They impart it greatly, but gaining control of oneself seems to weaken them, forcing their dissapation. Light also appears to be anathema to them.

It might help in establishing the nature of these manifestations if you can recall any instances in which the apparitions to which you refer have interacted physically with your surroundings. For example, have objects in the same space been moved, poltered, or damaged? Let me emphasise that I do not mean to imply that these horrid spectres are "all in your mind".

From my experience they do not appear to be capable of interacting with the physical enviroment. Or if they are, they chose not to. I have had the distinct feeling that there is some form of intelligence behind them, but cold and malevolent.

i know that sounds out there... but breath, relax..dont call it 'confronting' them..just talk.

from personal experance one of two things happen. they go away. or you find out at least why they are there.

I looked at one of the ASP sites that Mr. Caigan recommended, and their advice was pretty much what I was thinking - try some type of spiritual self-defense, i.e., prayer, chanting, talismans of protection, shielding, banishment & protection, smudging - whatever options your belief system supports.

The smudging seems to be working, so I'd stick with that as a basic practice, and perhaps wear a personal talisman or charm while sleeping.  Good Luck!

Good evening ladies and gentlemen. I have stumbled upon "The Order" by way of  topic on metaphorical and will, most likely, flit about here for a while, if only to satisfy my own morbid curiosity with the occult and supernatural.

On the topic of these shadow beings that plague you, clockwerk, what was your mindset in using the native American remedies? Did you approach the practices with skepticism or faith?

I think that Frater Cog has offered you
some very good advice.

Speaking from fifty-plus years as an ASP

the entities in conversation will definitely
make things more interesting.

I was wondering - are there any type of waveharmonics that can be applied to the shells from a projectile weapon that allow them to affect both the material and ætheral planes simultaneously? I have a pest on my property and I'm not sure if it is of a corporeal or incorporeal nature. I just know that I'm getting tired of cleaning up ectoplasmic residue.

I would have to say a little bit of both, weretybe. But since my initial experience with these things I'm much more willing to take these sort of things on faith. I would say if anything it has renewed my interest in the supernatural arts, with some caution of course. I appreciate all the advice everyone.

Actually, perhaps this is an ideal oppurtunity to discuss any experiences our fellow members may have had?

Depends. Exactly what form of pest is it? You could try the Hellboy method; hollowpoints loaded with cloves and holy water.  Grin
