Very snub nosed and aggressive - perhaps you could make an alternative short barrel edge trim for the unit and then swap over to the twin coil extension when required?

Well tbh the vacuum end is supposed to be the ranged one. This is a closer scatter type, if the main housing got damaged or some such event. I have no idea what i could add to make a long range snub attachment...lol

By the by - I cannot purchase a rifle stock from eBay in New South Wales (another state in Australia) because Victorian gun law (both State and era!) considers any part of a firearm (such as a lump of wood) to be a firearm, therefore requring a licence.

I shall have to carve my own gun stock!

The clear thing on the first pic is the fan assembly from the vacuum, and it now owns a piece of my left hand (drill went through too fast and hit in between my pointer and middle finger 

Fan would be painted and the clear part possibly have viewing windows , not 100% sure yet.

Nicely done, Prof! I was going to say that when I'm doing anything that 'nests', or 'stacks' and I want to make it strong, I usually drill a central hole in each part, and run a threaded rod through all the parts, and lock them all together with a nut at each end; tha's what holds the Thunderbuss together; on my Steam Pistol (which I WILL finish one day!), I used threaded tube, the sort of thing that is used in making lamps and light fittings, but it's difficult to come by, and the last 1 m length I found cost me £20!

What to do about the bulkhead: how about some hemispheres,  so they look like the exposed ends of pressurised cylinders? Or maybe short lengths of 1/2" tube with mesh in them, to resemble vents of some kind?

Threaded components with holes up the middle are a problem.

Compression plumbing fittings are one answer.

Bicycle head stocks are another, if the dimensions allow.

The bulk head is a odd bird so to speak, as it houses the light for the internals AND is supposed to be the A/C generator chamber which powers the coils. I like the cooling vents idea, perhaps i can make some with copper mesh I have. I will have to be careful when cutting as there is not a lot of room, buti think it's doable. Watch this space fore developments =D

Secondly i need a opinion I have decided to same my sanity and instead make a cover of sorts for the bulkhead. while scouring for parts i realized that a CD case is just about the right size =)

Thing is i cannot decide on which I like, both would be painted of course, but which seems to flow better? (down side of both is the second metal piece from the base of the barrels has to be omitted for depth reasons)

I like the second one too, though it may be a bugger to paint, as it's polypropylene- it'd need wet sanding with fine wet or dry paper, and plastic primer, but it should be ok...

Well while waiting for the paint to dry on the CD cover, i decided to finish up the rear cover, complete with spring clip to hold it down =D

Howsabout having the existing engine drive a Wimshurst machine or maybe a Van der Graaf.

Belt drive, big polished sphere, headset with a couple of arcing points placed just above the ears.

Nice effect.
