Great piece. I have an idea for your bottle. Rottenstone (looks like ashes, I use it to clean lenses), Sprinkle a small amount on a piece of soft flannel, add a few drops of alcohol, from another period bottle, polish the glass. Practical and authentic.

Yes, in a small bottle or test tube with cork, another small bottle for alcohol, both with period labels.

I think those two bottles are perfect for the kit, and the brass oval around the logo makes it look very professional Smiley

As you can read above i scrapped the shelf thing, the lid simply would not close with it on. Also the more i look at the box the more i realize it's off in some places. The new lid i put on is warped so i have to get another one, or try to straighten this one. Other than that and the labels etc it's almost done. I will update when i have more, for now I have to keep myself from scrapping the whole thing due to my miscalculations.

Am I right in thinking it's really simple electronics? Like, an LED connected to a battery, or something?

Google for "LED throwies" for some quick and dirty LED stuff, but the simple answer is yes - LED + battery = light.

Match up the LED voltage to the battery - generally use a 3v battery with any LED.

Still looking great, Taggart. One thing - with the logo, it seems you painted it, yeah? You shuold have another go at the "Inc." on the side. Looks squeezed in and halfways sloppy - brings down your otherwise excellent work.

Sean,

Ya know i hate you now... Grin

I had a look and indeed you were right, I am now in the process of redoing that section and fixing some other mistakes. I will have some new pics up soon =)

KK here is a updated version. I will have to go over the background one more time (behind the logo) to get a uniform finish, but i think the lettering looks better now:

Quick question,

what is the best way to apply paper labels? I was thinking elmers glue but is there a better way? Perhaps a glue stick or something else?

I use a product called 'JAC' paper. This is double sided opaque sticky paper that comes in big sheets. Bit of a specialty product but some printers carry it. Otherwise spray adhesive lighly applied will hold pretty well and not ripple the paper.

Large update
I finally finished the lid to my liking, took more time than i thought because i kept messing up...lol
Also finalized the interior layout and took a mock up shot, the white sheet represents where the instructions will go once i get them finalized. The red cloth is for maintenance, the 2 bottles will contain Rottenstone (most likely a gray powder, and water labeled alcohol. The gun oil thing was too big to fit properly. I need to finish a few things inside the box, especially the edges of the black base cloth.
Onto the pics, pardon the lid, i seemed to misplace my wood polish =(
