By Jove that would be hard to make, I love complex opening systems, especially on boxes (my favourite are Japanese puzzle boxes
). I am not so sure about the design, but I can more than appreciate the incredible engineering that went into this!

The design isn't complete...
The sides should go down even more and become legs. And of course move the clock around.

I would imagine the opening petals part could be done as well using centrifugal force. The clock in the center doesn´t look that good, but it does seem to have many nice functions.
