– Goths (and Steampunks) invade Disneyland Hello, This is my first post, so please bear with me. This weekend is the infamous, at least in the goth/vamp culture in Southern California, “Batsday”. I’m Steampunking it and want to know who else is going as I have heard whispers via Myspace about meetups at the park itself outside of the photo opportunities. HELLSYES!!!!! Disneyland has been a part of my life growing up here in SoCal, but I must say Bats Day has been the most fun I have ever had at the park! There is something about uniting with a community at the happiest place on earth. . .and it is very cool when the Haunted Mansion is completely taking over by the goths I have been hearing mention hear and there about the SteamPunk comunity making more of a presence at BatsDay. . .thou I think there are close ties with both communities and many goths are/have become steampunks! Very excited to see what sort of presence and influence we can have this year bringing Steamers to the Bats! Who's all with us?!?!? -CrackitusPotts |

Ahoy! I am sooo there. I tried to start a conversation about Bats Day before the forum went down, but it got lost somewhere.
The only other person I had heard was going was Crackitus Potts, so I am pleased to hear there will be others.
Jerry and I are steaming it, and would love to do a "mini meetup" somewhere in the sea of goths. If anyone is going up Saturday night before, maybe somewhere in Downtown Disney? And of course, in the park on Sunday. Feel free to email me about it.

ok, so far, Miss E. Pierpont and I had a lil chat about a meet and think we should meet when the big group photo is to be taken at the castle at 1pm. . . .but where to meet from there? off to the side somewhere so we know it is us. . .though the goggles may be hard to miss. . .being brown and brass and not silver and black  It would be cool to think of something kinda steamy to meet? The only thing off the top of my head is the rocket ships in tomorrow land. . .a little too sci-fi for me personally, but they are near/right of the castle and they are copper and brass  your thoughts? |

Smiles – I am a new cross over (Goth to Steam) – and I remain mostly black and probably will never leave mostly black… ol’ habits die hard.
As for a meetup at the park, I have an idea, what about the (giggles while she types) the Steamboat by Tom Sawyer Island? If everyone agree's, we can pick a time thereafter -

that is an idea. . .wow, missed that one. . .
here be the thing though, we could do an earlier time and place like the steamboat. . .though it still may only be the few of us here on the forum that find out, which is ok. . .but, if we wanna try and get a few more steamy/goths, maybe we do the steamboat after the regular meet up at the castle. . .we may just be able to recruit/locate/attract other steampunks not privy to these forums. . .
i am liking the steamboat. . .
what say u?
btw, i have heard thru ties to disney that there is talk of a redo/update to the old Steam Boat Willie, SteamPunk Willie. . .we will see. . .

Batsday official meetup times for the Goths/Vamps (Where shall we fit in? Perhaps 2pm?) 1pm @ in front of Sleeping Beauty's Castle 3:30pm - The Baby Bats Photo, for parents and their kids only. At the Sword in the Stone next to the Carrousel in Fantasyland.(after the Sword in the Stone ceremony) 8:45pm @ The Haunted Mansion in New Orleans Square (please see the important info below about how this photo will be taken) Important * 8:45pm Haunted Mansion photo information.* Important Please Read. There will be mini group photos taken of about 25-30 people in each photo. They will be taken on the steps of the Haunted Mansion. You should plan to arrive at the Haunted Mansion around the fountain that is next to the Haunted Mansion at about 8:30pm. At 8:45 you, with your party, will start to line up to go into the Haunted Mansion queue area. Please be sure that your entire party is together before you get into line for the photo. That way you can be sure that you will all be together for your photo. To help move the photos along smoothly, if your group is too large, it may be split up in between photos. Ely Von Rigby  |

Duh! (hits head with palm of hand) of course the Steamboat! We can do the photo shoot first, gather any other stray steamers, then head to the steamboat! I agree with Mr. Potts.

We'll try to have a meetup after the 1pm Sleeping Beauty photoshoot, perhaps 2pm at the Steamboat?

I tried to see if I could get anyone interested from my costume guild into going, but I'm not getting any responses. And as I don't want to go by myself, I probably won't either. It's kind of a busy weekend for me anyhow. But if anything changes, I'll keep checking back here.

Sounds good to me. Maybe we can find each other at the 1:00 photo shoot, and hope stray steamers will see us and join in. Also, as we walk around during the day and see other steamers, we can tell them what we are up to. Tell 'em all to be at the steamboat at 2.

i suggest we get there a little before 1 to find each other and settle before the official shoot, Bats Day recommends folks show up 15 mins prior to pic. . .not bad idea
so 15 till 1 to the right of the castle (if your facing the castle) toward tomorrow land in front of the rock in front of the rockets?!?!?! that kinda sounds confusing but I think it makes sense. . .

See you at the Rock at 12:45. I am in San Diego. I will be up there on Saturday afternoon at the Black Market, then hanging out at Downtown Disney Saturday evening. Goth, not steamy.
