I admire DuPree's work ethic...

Anyway. I just found this very interesting tidbit for those of you wondering about Zeetha's parentage.

Ah! "your highness!"

A title Gil can use but not his father. Skifandrian or Europa, or both?

I would bet it's Skiff, but meant to dangle some Storm King-yness for bonus Wild Mass Guessing.

Bang's reaction is priceless. I'm liking her more and more... and this is getting more and more tempting. I'm a broke college student, danngit! Unfair!

Maybe Skifandria royalty is the true descendents of the Storm King, the ban on male heirs to prevent the prophecy from coming to pass, that would be very Foglio!

I've a feeling he knew that there'd be a good chance he'd get revived/minionized/impersonated. so leave orders so there'd be no way for him to legetimately take back thetitle/throne/whatever.

Yea he could be off doing whatever and this is just a test, but I doubt it. Klause may hate not being able to go adventuring or do whatever unnatural things his Spark wants, but he is a man of principle and work ethic. He wouldn't abandon the empire.

Plus he already told Gil quite some time ago, "No more tests."

I won't believe he's dead before I see a body (and maybe not even then, given this universe lol), but I do find it interesting how, slowly but surely, the next generation are taking over.

At the beginning it was all about the Baron and the Hederodyne Boys and Tarvek's father, but now "the Heterodyne" is Agatha, and Gil has become his father's replacement, and Tarvek's father-- is he dead? I don't remember. I tihnk so.

Our little Sparks are growing up... *Sniff*

The Baron, I suspect knew he was compromised, perhaps not exactly how, but already had standing orders he could rely upon in these circumstances to prevent his exploitation. The Storm King Story indicates he considered that Gil was ready.

These Standing Orders should have prevented Gil from returning and taking up the reins, however The Hat was a perfect McGuffin to get around that, dispatched now to a safe place.

The Baron will return, not yet though I think. Perhaps he will go to his wife........

Clank Anevka electrocuted Tarvek's father fairly early in the Sturmhalten story, on the same night Agatha was captured.

Our sparks are indeed growing up *sniff*.

I kinda hope the Baron will be able to enjoy some sort of peaceable retirement somewhre... but then again even if the dust does settle he's too big a personality, too important for too long, to be allowed a retirement. His hand is in this compromised, healed, given up the claim of the empire, or not.

Tarvik is also on Castle Wulfenbach. So we likely will see Gil's corination as the Storm King. It fits at just how screwed up the world is. Gil gets the throne and title. Tarvak gets the muses and, for the time being,, agatha's ear.

The thing I'm dreading is that Tarvek will turn out to be Gil's 'separated at birth' long lost brother. But no, they wouldn't stoop so low...Wink

I'm in the 'show me the body' camp...Wink

No, Tarvek is more likely to be Agatha's brother. Unless that is Higgs, who may instead be her uncle Barry. Tarvek bears more resemblance to Bill than his own father, and Lucrezia gave him enormous latitude as regards her secrets, far more than niece Pinkie/Zola, suggesting a closer relationship.

Gil is the son of the Baron, pretty well established beyond doubt, 95% certain Zeethra is his twin sister, their mother being the Skifandrian Queen.

Under this scenario Gil becomes Storm King, Agatha his Queen, and Tarvek the Heterodyne. However it would require someone in the know (Lucrezia?) to provide this backstory if that is how the Foglio's roll. We still haven't had the full story of Agatha's birth to about age four.

I can't see Agatha letting anyone take the Castle away from her. She's far too sparky to let all those goodies go without a fight.

Agreed.
Why in Og's Name couldn't Agatha be both the Heterodyne and Queen of all Europa?
(I don't put much stock in any "but this character resembles that character" speculation, as Phil only seems to be able to draw four distinct head shapes.)

Speculation only, but if Tarvek was the brother and a spark he is the elder sibling, if Higgs is her brother who isn't a spark, then the castle would probably still support Agatha's claim.

See above speculation, the Foglio's do like dropping visual hints like this, the story board was probably done months ago, but it is in there, so long planned, and not a casual addition.its inclusion another hint?this is an especially important image, and the reason given for inclusion so trivial?

Which might suggest Higgs is Barry, bereft of spark? The Castle knows him but didn't claim him as an heir. Only Bill or Barry would fit the bill unless you introduce an entirely new character from the 'early days' never previously referred to.

Wouldn't Vonn Pinn have recognized him as a child though?

Yes , but what did he write on his nuts?

Been reviewing old pages. When Lucrezia first took possession, she called Tarvek "Wilhelm" tarvek demurred saying she had mistaken him for his father Aronev Wilhelm Sturmvarous. Tarvek and his father looks nothing alike and why would the revived Lucrezia expect him? Surely she would expect her husband Bill? What is Bill's full name? Wilhelm perhaps? Tarvek looks like Bill, but they say that about all of Phil's characterisations.

The Mongfish were attendant upon Prince Sturmvarous conception and birth to make sure that he was 'special' as the intended Storm King. The one thing they could not do is guarantee a Spark, the Spark doesnt always run true in families (remember Beetle's proud boast of being a third generation spark). What if the prepared Prince wasn't a spark?, the Mongfish would have to find an infant male spark and run a substitution ploy. The only such sparks they would have access to would be Theo and Klaus Barry.

What if the mangled infant found was the enhanced Prince? What if instead of dying the enhancements allowed the child to survive, and adopted by Mechanisburgers? in which case you would have an extraordinarily strong, durable and capable young man Tarvek, Gil's and Theo's age, but without a spark, and who was known to the Castle?

This would mean Tarvek is Klaus Barry the Heterodyne,  and Higgs is Prince Sturmvarous, and suitable as an consort for a Skifandrian Princess. The Foglio's definitely said no Luke/Leia for Gil/Agatha, but nothing about Agatha/Tarvek.

We're clearly approaching the climax.  I suspect that the plan is to finish Girl Genius on its 10th anniversary, November 04, 2012.  The pace is about right for that.
