Ah but putting Tarvak in Castle Wulfenbach even as a prisoner leaves him in his element of being able to politic people around since that seems to be his thing.
I'm still steamed that the castle's Library is in such a sorry state. Nevermind the fact the castle itself has probably read the whole thing as soon as the attacks stop I want the giant plant corpses removed before they do any MORE damage.
Remind me-- was it indeed a library of books, or was it actually more of a genetic bank for all your monsters that are awkward to feed?

The Library is an actual library, as well as a museum and a tactical command center. It's in pretty good shape, apart from the damage to the dome where Zola flew out. I believe Lazaras may have been thinking of the Conservatory near the Seraglio, which is indeed sadly neglected and overgrown.

Has been said before, and I will say it now. Were it in good order and clean condition I'd love living in castle Hetrodyne.
As an /INVITED/ guest mind you. It's got too lethal a sense of humor otherwise.

Staff are safer, as they are less likely to lose their privileges. I hereby volunteer as resident Cryptographer and Assistant Librarian!!!

Then again we are talking about a sentient house that's been created and home to a family of insane sparks that think nothing of bloody murder (well except for the past generation or so.)
So who knows what the turnout rate for staff was.

Pretty low, I'd say, given that bunch. Bump 'em off, zap 'em back, bump 'em off again, zap 'em back again...

The Heterodynes inspired intense loyalty, which cannot be done by oppression. Even where conventional Sparks would go for built in obedience, they preferred loyalty. The Jägermonsters are a prime example of this. They are individual, thinking beings. governed by loyalty and respect, which makes them significantly more dangerous, as they can operate independently and fit their orders to conditions. The Mechanicsburgers respond to any threat or affront to the Heterodybe with genuine righteous fury. I think, however terrifying they were to outsiders, the Heterodynes always took care of their own (within the limits of their sanity).

Each Jaeger volunteered to be transformed.
Major sparks have natural charisma, this is how Gil cowed Vole, and why Von Zinzer is now accepted as "Chief Minion" despite his protestations to the contrary, his actions belie his words, and this is despite holding Agatha responsible for the death of his brother.
I presume the more powerful the spark, the more people they can carry with them.

Someone, I don't know who, named that particular optical illusion a "blivet". A blivet is impossible to build in the real world, violating several rules of physics and topology. Therefore, I think the major source of damage from a blivet used as a weapon would not be the impact per se, but the strange effects of being exposed to the localized alternate space-time that allows it to exist on your innards!

No The Hat has returned WITH A VENGEANCE.
It's awesomeness getting Gil almost entirely all the way into Castle Wulfenbach, despite his fathers security protocols.
All hail the Storm King's Crown!
That what it is isn't it. Gil can generate thunder and lightning at will, this has been seen by all, has a magnicent Crown, this has been seen by all and is the boyfriend of the only Heterodyne girl born in generations, (effectively acknowledged by all except Tarvek) I suspect by the end of this volume he is going to be publicly acclaimed The Storm King, right in front of Tarvek!

Gil is never, ever going to escape the hat though.

"Killed" off stage doesn't mean he is dead. Actually killed on stage doesnt either in this world.
Probably smuggled out by 'Princess Anevka' for her own ends. This was why Bang was sent away, the fact Bang is still alive means the Baron is also.

Also note that Herr Klaus still has that wasp stuffed down his gullet that lets Dear Lady Anevka control sparks.
On an unrelated note: Is it bad i want to hug Dupree, even though I'd have to worry about her trying to murder me?
