The Jagers have come home.
*sniff*
I promised myself I wouldn't cry.
(cue the pipes) The Jaegers are comin, Hurrah! Hurrah! The Jaegers are comin, Hurrah! Hurrah! The Jaegers are comin to old Mechanicsburg The Jaegers are comin, Hurrah! Hurrah! Isn't that : "Der Jaegerz izt comink"? Sorry. I can do a music-hall Scots accent, but not a Romanian accent. (It isn't genetic, as I have far more Slav in my background than Celt.)

As a female General Gkika is of course in charge of the wounded. As a Jaeger, she also ensures that she causes a considerable number of them.

She also has had the more difficult assignment of any of the Generals. The others were able to play politics while sipping tea on Castle Wolfenbach; she was tasked with keeping a hidden force of wild Jaegers in fighting trim hidden under Mechanicsburg itself. I do not envy her, but it is good to see her in uniform.

Dollink and the tall shako were in her original character sketch. I was hoping they'd show up in canon! I wonder how many Jägergenerals there are?

I"m still happy/weepy at the idea of after a generation the Jagers have finally been able to come home and do what Jagers do best.

I hadn't noticed before that Gkika's little beauty-mark is a little skull. I typed "beasty-mark" by mistake.

When Godzilla says rejoice, you'd better bloody rejoice.
Or he'll put you in his bag of goodies for the good girls and boys of Mechanicsburg. And you wouldn't want that, would you? You might end up with one head or something.

Getting hit over the head with a money sack tends to hurt. Scale that up to building size and you're dealing with masses that are pure nightmare inducing.

Nice subversion on the idea that now that the castle has main power it'll be useful. Makes a bit of sense really since I'd guess between existing damage, potential output from the river, and the sheer SIZE of the castle and it's power requirements the river is more a trickle charger than something that will allow it to do useful things /AND/ recharge. At least not with running on reserves for so long.
I imagine a few well placed lightning strikes funneled into the batteries (correctly!) might help speed things up a scootch.
Wonder if this Monster Island is anywhere near the Vortex of Terror.

The Castle can advice, provide intelligence, communications and can still do minor attacks, its idea of major offensive is overkill, so it still has power to do something.
Yes, Gil recharging the Castle through his lightening devices would work well for him as a putative Storm King on the back of his previous successes. The Observatory would be the ideal conduit, as Gen Gkika poibts out. Tarvek is sitting things out, and has to date not done anything which might lead him to be acclaimed the Storm King.
The Baron's Storm King story to the Boring Guy indicates Gil has a claim and 'Wulfenbach' with the storm Kings father as a giant wolf has to be seen in this context. It should be noted that Gil wasn't revived, Tarvek was, which means Tarvek is ineligible as an heir to the 50 great noble families, but Gill isn't. The Heterodynes are not a noble family, and as such do not care. The Baron is from a minor noble family, he doesnt care either.
tony Minster Island has been mentioned before, your okay so long as you keep your boots on.

Ah but putting Tarvak in Castle Wulfenbach even as a prisoner leaves him in his element of being able to politic people around since that seems to be his thing.
I'm still steamed that the castle's Library is in such a sorry state. Nevermind the fact the castle itself has probably read the whole thing as soon as the attacks stop I want the giant plant corpses removed before they do any MORE damage.
