Important note to all Soldiers, Pirates and Adventurers following this thread: if they take out all of your allies and henchmen, your back is open. Take cover! (I repeat, Captain Vole? Who gave this halfwit a commission?)

There are two ways to improve your standing in the city: You can work very hard to improve yourself, gaining allies, weaponry, and magic, or you can simply kill the higher ranking man (which also requires allies, weaponry, and magic). You may be a psychopath, but either way, you end up a highly ranked and obscenely good at whatever you do.

Kinda. My thought was basically "finally!" then I immediately focused on how corny that last panel was.

Only took how many issues for that to happen?
Also. Gil gives good advice. Tarvik's hide is on the line (and he has a thing for Agetha) so listening to your advisor/consort would be in the best interests of a long life.

Tarvek isn't just sneaky, he's REALLY good at being sneaky. So if you're sure he's on your side, his advice will be excellent!

Okay, I have just spent the past week catching up on this after being painfully unaware of it's existence, and I'm hooked Now whether to stalk it update by update or let them build up a little... hmm...

Update by update, surely. The pacing is rather, um, frenetic if you read it all in one session.

Unless of course it turns out that he is in fact not yet the storm king! With all of the "out of the frying pan, into the fire" plot twists since they entered the castle, this wouldn't surprise me at this point.

How is it NOBODY made commentary over the past week?
Also. Violette right here proves, again, why I love her as a character.

I for one have nothing to say at this point! All my speculations are out the window. Unless I missed some damning evidence, I doubt the Barron is dead or that the Hospital has been totally destroyed. And if they were destroyed.(the Barron and the hospital) then where the deuce is Deathwish DuPree? She's been quiet for way to long and I can't seeing her standing idle by. Clearly the Jägers would be in the thick of things going on above the castle but has the doom bell been rung yet? And Othar Last I remember is somewhere in the castle.(lord knows what he's getting into) It would be nice to know where Zeetha and Higgs are at this time too. I think I'm gonna give the comic a rest for about a month to give the pages time to build up. (That means me avoiding this topic on BG after Sunday ) Arvis P.S. Anyone seen Winslow lately?

We have seen a snapshot of the future witnessed by Dupree which featured Gil not Tarvek, and that scene has yet to come to pass in the narrative.
In the one shot photo it appears Gil and Agatha have a daughter, I wonder if that is the Heterodyne Heir who marries The Storm King, that would make sense as it would unify all powers in Europa.

Does not nessicarily have to be the future. Simply a future.
Of course that all is dependent on if parallel earths co-exist in the Folgio 'verse or not and if they can reach eachother.

He's playing with lightning again. Tarvek may be the true bloodline descendant of Andronicus Valois, but Gil might get himself proclaimed the Storm King if this keeps up!
Also, it looks like the Magnificent Hat is going to become Gil's trademark no matter how he feels about it.

Agatha now has the castle's sections talking to each other. But the castle is weakened and underpowered because it's running on stored power. There's a crew down at the River Dyne level tying to fix the power supply. Remember those non-Sparks working away to fix the water wheels? It's about time to hear from them again.

And so the bell rings, and from the look of things, nukes the town in the process. I almost feel sorry for whats-his-name, on top of the tower.
So Agatha's army of Jagers will show up seemingly out of nowhere next (we know they're underground, but does anyone else?), right?

Boris Dolokhov knows, Gil knows, and the real Government of Mechanicsburg know, but very few others. Itt vill mek nize sorprize for de Invaders, ja? Even the walking wounded in the secret clinic are formidable, and I believe the Generals have been secretly bringing in Jäger units since before the tea meeting with Boris, and hiding them in the tunnels.
I'm sure that the Mechanicsburg building code takes the Doom Bell into account, as does the traditional accession speech. You will note that the Castle insisted on the whole thing, prompting for the last line. The ringing of the Doom Bell follows exactly on the words "TREMBLE BEFORE ME!" And everything except the Heterodyne does tremble, getting everyone's reflexes set up right from the beginning. Anyway, there are a lot of quite old buildings still standing, so they must allow for it.
This is either very good or very bad for the Wulfenbach Imperium, depending on whether they welcome the new Heterodyne as an ally or not. If they do, the tide turns in their favor in this battle, for the trivial price of promoting Mechanicsburg from Client to Free Ally, and they continue the unbroken winning streak that got them this far. If they don't, this could be the loss that lets all of Europa fall apart again, plus they now have an enemy with a destiny on her side. And they must choose now!
