I climbed over the high, chain link fence. The moon cast a pallid glow over everything. It was so bright. The large crater ringed by withered trees was just where I had left it. Not that it would have moved. After years of studying must old tomes and ancient folklore, I was finally ready.
I jumped down, falling for a second before landing on the cobblestone floor. No one knows where the crater came from, but it revealed an ancient place.
I read from the book, and a huge fleshy fist pulled me in. The Ancient One had chosen me.

Not very steamy, but cthulu, which is commonly accepted among our circles. Smiley

Sky above reflects the red desert in the dying sun.

I pull my duster tight and kick my horse. His nostrils huff steam, his pace slackens, saving precious water. I grit my teeth, the change of pace wakes pain in my leg. Few days old, it will heal.

The metal hoofbeats behind have faded. Maybe I'll be lucky. Maybe he's lost me.

A lantern marks a waystation. Water and coal to feed the horse, a bite for the trail. Paid with a silver dollar, my last one.

I'll ride high into midnight, damn them. But they'll never catch me alive.

Interesting, and harder than it looks keeping it under a hundred words. This one is inspired by Midnight Rider.

I stood on the bow rubbing wrist’s. A year and a half ago I managed to escape imprisonment and return to my ship. Even now, I still feel the touch of the manacles that I had been chained up in for a year. That time had changed me, the old friendly me is now gone, all that’s left is the anger, the need for revenge. The crew have noticed and they now fear me. Soon I will have to past the command to my first officer and leave. They won’t want me to go but it’s safer for them.

I suffer from a random misfiring synapse and a bad case of wolfen the turns me into a seven foot tall warewolf or a seven foot great wolf!
Trust me, you don't want to meet any version of me.

Science Log: Entry -4026

While excavating the an active volcano near my original base, I came across a series of mechanical creatures who manipulated iron rich liquids around their body's whilst drawing energy from the surrounding temperature of the nearby magma. Though rigid, I believe these to be rouge ferro-form automatons from the civil war who have exchanged their former ferrofluid for hot iron which has cooled enough to regain its magnetic properties.

Since the design for ferroforms has been lost, this provides an excellent opportunity to research the technology of our city's lost Golden Age.
I have already prepped another team for further research into the matter.

Three months sat in my own excrement, three months, chained up in this dank, dark stinking cell, not able to see anything, not speaking to anyone. Striped of everything I was even my name.

When the monster that put me in her visits, he never uses my name, just call’s me prisoner. I seek death, peace from the darkness.

The slave collar prevents my transformation and I am unable to escape. Disrepair is killing me and now I think of nothing, I have long forgotten who I was and anything about my past.

I long for death, for peace.
