I know its not really steampunk, but I found a helicopter flying in Scotland, whilst I was engaged in a steampunk investigation! http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?ll=57.220342,-2.1824968&z=19&t=h&hl=en-GB

This is the largest ship graveyard in the US. It is the scuttled fleet of wooden ships built for WWI which never saw service.
Thanks, I'd been ignorant of this before your post. http://dnr.maryland.gov/naturalresource/winter2001/ghostship.html

This is a great thread. Since I just posted about the Midway Village events I thought I would look for the village on Google Maps. It looks like they were still assembling the 1905 barn when this picture was taken, as now the area is a mix of mowed grass and restored tall grass prairie. You can see the Village here. We went for a private tour when we were sorting out the details of our events next year and they did take us a little bit in the woods to the south of the village. Even though I know they are on 140 acres it is still a shock to see how much land they have. The "road" to the west of them is a paved walking path in a pasture that they also own. Since the area around them is built up with strip malls and office parks it is nice they have a large buffer between them and the modern world.

Greensteam, I have since found a way to provide Google Earth urls and thought I had added one for the Zeppelin, but there you go! First locate your object of interest and centre it in the Google Earth map. Then go to File, select View in Google Maps (Ctrl+Alt+M) Copy the url from the browser address bar at the top of the screen (highlight then Ctrl+C) eg the url for the Lawn in Lincoln is http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?ll=53.235121,-0.54374575&z=17&t=h&hl=en-GBPaste it in the usual way between url brackets. May not be the only way, or the best way, but it works for me! ffitz

Ah, blessed Portmerion! I haven't been back for a while, but as I now have the jacket, I should... Portmerion: Be Seeing You! I'm going to attempt to grab a picture from the interactive Google Earth, as it's a bit odd...
