Greenfield Village is a good one. They've recently paved things, so it looks far less impressive--but there is still much railroad and other Victorian history to see...

Great finds, heres some more: Brooklands, Surrey-just down the road from me, one of the worlds first purpose built motor-racing tracks; historically preserved as.. a business and retail park. But I'm not bitter. Horsell Common, Surrey- Where the Martians landed, you can't see much of the crater anymore, the MOD bulldozed it away back in 1906.

Thank you, Dohickey, for providing links to Zeppelin sites. Would Lakehurst, New Jersey, be too late to include? The large hangar is still there.

Ah, the greatest airship of all time. Such a shame it was used as National Socialist propoganda.

Ah airships, such an elegant way to travel. To add my experience, the sheds at Cardington in Bedford where the R100 and R101 were built. The time period for these ships is rather late (1920s and 30s) but I have fond memories of this location as my father was stationed here back in the late 1970s. And this is my first message to our community here! Good day to one and all.

Sorry but I don't know how to provide GoogleEarth tags, however if you navigate to 47°40'28.86"N 47°40'28.86"N, Friedrichshafen, you can see a real Zeppelin moored to a tower (admittedly a Zeppelin NT). Any instruction to gather Googleearth location urls would be gratefully received.

Giant creature escapes from the mad scientists underground lair! http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&q=Artesina+in+Italy&t=k&om=1&ie=UTF8&ll=44.244292,7.769866&spn=0.001506,0.004506&z=17Yes Ok it's a giant knitted pink rabbit- still its quite cool if not particularly steamy... More on it hereOk and something a little more steampunk http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=gasworks+vauxhall,+London,&sll=51.453552,-0.147167&sspn=0.000655,0.004292&ie=UTF8&cd=1&ll=51.485532,-0.114777&spn=0.001309,0.008583&t=k&z=17The Gas towers- essentialy they are huge pylon cylinders with giant metal tanks that can rise and fall. the gas is held underneath them, and the weight of the tanks gives it the pressure to supply the city. They're not best as a birds eye view, but the shadows give you some idea- they are truly gorgeous constructions.

Not Zeppelin related, but I posted this in spare goggles awhile back: Pointless link of remote interest Warning: This is only loosely related to steampunkedness, but I am very bored at work and had the need to post..... Additional warning: instead of simply posting links, the reader will have to do alittle work... Go to google maps and search for “Mallow's Bay, Maryland” With the satellite view on, zoom in on the blue bubble “A”. Zoom in real close and look alittle north of the "A" bubble. Click http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&ie=UTF8&ll=38.471818,-77.268713&spn=0.008299,0.013733&t=h&z=16This is the largest ship graveyard in the US. It is the scuttled fleet of wooden ships built for WWI which never saw service. There are afew books on the subject, but a quick google search will provide enough details to peak everyone's curiosity. There are also several photos taken by boaters on www.fliker.com. I live close to this place, but do not canoe or kayak, so I will probably never visit it.

Anyone got any others? Tesla Lab location?
Here is the link for the satellite imagery of Tesla's Wardenclyffe lab in Radio City, New York ( now known as Shoreham ) : http://tinyurl.com/plgtj2I have centered the picture on the concrete plug that was poured where the tower used to stand.

Thank you Doctor, can't say I've noticed it, but will look out next time I'm on the Express Way (as if I don't already!) It is really nice that they have loaded a low sun shot so that although the engine is in plan, the shadow shows a good profile (Mr Watt always knew a good profile when he saw one - personal joke - sorry....)

I have just discovered how to link to google maps... Anyone want to guess what this is? It's obviously a top-secret road heading into an alternate reality in which the soviet union won WWII. Good find, comrade. You should see the wormhole created by the Time Traveler's final return in Central America
