Ooooh, I've been wondering if I'd get anything else with a nice steampunk-related aesthetic to play on Xbox 360... BioShock is my favorite Xbox 360 game, but after beating it 4 times, it's kind of lost it's appeal as far as replaying it goes. Damnation has that awesome steampunk/weird west thing going on and Edge of Twilight looks really interesting as a post-apocalyptic thing, and they're coming out later this year too! Ach, must start saving up.
And why is it people slap the steampunk label on anything with a steam engine or a fancy clock or Victorian decor? I hate to rant, but it really bugs me when everyone claims games like Final Fantasy VI are "good examples" of steampunk video games, when if you actually play through the game, you can see that the game is no more steampunk in the game than that was in the 1880's in the USA. The more advanced technology is all powered by magic, not steam, and the only steam-related machines in the game are mundane things like trains and factory machines. The machinery itself all has more of a medieval/gothic feel to it, too, so it doesn't even touch on the usual Victorian aspects (which I feel are completely optional anyway). I just find it really disappointing when someone points out a game and claims it's steampunk, only to find out there's just a typical steam-powered airship, or some clockwork contraption in a dungeon and that's it.
Now, games like Arcanum or Skies of Arcadia... THAT'S what I'm talking about!
